Speaker 2:

I was about to be seriously impressed. I thought maybe you were speaking Cherokee or you had something I didn't know about there.

Speaker 1:

You liked that intro, did you yes?

Speaker 2:

I didn't know where you were going with it. At first I thought, dang, she knows a language I didn't even know about.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you almost feel like you're speaking a foreign language sometimes when you come into plant based eating and you have all these different things you do not know how to pronounce and you're thinking what in the world? And so for a long time maybe you just don't try it because it feels foreign and that makes it feel difficult. You get confused. You don't know. I don't even know how to say this, much less where to buy it, how to prepare it. So today we're breaking it down. We're going to teach you how simple quinoa is. Now maybe you've been eating plant based for a while and you're thinking I already know what it is, I've tried it. I'm pretty sure you're going to glean something new today too. So hang with us. The first thing we want to talk about is what in the world is quinoa? Now? Maybe you eat gluten free and you feel like your life is limited because there aren't many things that are gluten free. Quinoa is one of those beautiful things that needs to get into your life. It's a wonderful thing that we think of as a grain. We often list it as a grain because it can fill the place of rice, so think about the different places you use rice in your life. We're going to talk about some ways to use quinoa that are very creative so that you can start getting more of it on your plate. Why should you? Number one if you eat gluten free, it is gluten free. Number two, it is like one of the easiest things in the world to prepare. You won't believe how quick and easy the hardest part is waiting for it to get done, and really it's just. The pre prep is simple. It takes minutes, literally minutes, to get it in the pot cooking and waiting for it to cook so you can fluff it with a fork. That's the hardest part.

Speaker 2:

It is a definition of quick and simple.

Speaker 1:

It just doesn't get any faster or easier than this. No. And now, today, there's no excuse, because you can find it most anywhere. You can order it online, get it right to your door. You can find it in your local stores. I honestly think Walmart carries it. Now, this isn't a Walmart plug at all, don't even think it's that, but I'm just saying that's how readily available it is. In most places you can find it. So what is it if it's not a grain? What is it? Well, it comes from a flowering plant.

Speaker 2:

It's in the Amaranth family.

Speaker 1:

Right, and it's a seed. It's a seed, so you're getting. We know that seeds are healthy for us. I don't still think we know everything that's in every plant. I mean, there's so many things that we have discovered Tens of thousands. Oh yeah, scientists have discovered tens of thousands of phytonutrients, which are plant nutrients. They're just nutrients that are found only in plants, and they still haven't even named them yet. So we can't even begin to think all the great stuff that's waiting inside this tiny power packed seed. But we know it's healthy, we know it has fiber, we know that it has within it, as a seed, the ability to give life. That's what seeds do. They have the nutrients that are in there that produce life, and we are kingdom minded people. We want life in our life, so eat the seeds. Seeds are great for you. Keenwa is one of those. Now, you may get confused. When you start looking, the first thing you're gonna say is well, there's so many different kinds. There's white, there's red and there's black, and then there's tricolor, where they mix them all. What should I eat? Yes, yes, you should. All of them. All right, all of them. Why eat just one? Why, by white, try it and then say oh well, I just got the white first time and now I know how to make it, so I'm just gonna get white. No, get them all, because the color tells you a lot about the nutrients in the food, so that we know because it has different colors. It may have the same base nutrients because it comes from that same plant family. You've got to understand that. The colors are giving you a clue about the nutrients that are inside. So we know that the blacks and the purples and things are so good with the anthocyanins in there. They're great for us. So get the black quinoa. But we know that reds are really good for us too. Eat the reds, eat the whites, eat the tricolor, so that you're getting all. Just enjoy them in abundance. Okay, just enjoy them in abundance. Maybe you're eating a lot of rice, even if it's whole grain brown rice. That can be not good for you, specifically depending on where you're getting your rice. We won't go into the details about rice, but you can get some things that are not great in rice, especially if you're eating large quantities of it. So this is a wonderful time to branch out, to spread out, because too much of a good thing can be a not so good thing. So get quinoa in the place of where you're eating rice.

Speaker 2:

And the different plants have different nutrients in them, so you want to get a good variety. But there may be a certain dish that you love. Maybe you're kind of stuck on it with rice. Well, this is a great way to make a substitution.

Speaker 1:

Right, and you always want to keep it exciting. I want you to keep plant-based living exciting. We've talked about this before, you're gonna hear it again, and we have some things coming down the road that are wrapped around this concept, the thing I'm about to share with you right now Most people eat nine meals, nine main meals, throughout the year and they rotate through those same nine meals every month. They might have it twice in one week and once the next. They might not have it the next and then they'll have it a couple more times, but they rotate and mix up in some way those same nine main meals and they worry that plant-based is gonna be limiting. Think about that for a minute. Wrap your mind around that. We've talked about this before. I won't go into it, but just in the five different areas of whole plant feeds, rinse and veggies, whole grains, nuts, seeds, legumes and herbs and spices and all those different areas herbs and spices are always my bonus right? You get into those areas and you start eating down into those areas, into those different categories. There's so many different things to try and quinoa is one, I think, that a lot of times is overlooked. Or we put it in with the other grains and, while you can use it in place of other grains, you're really getting a seed, and we know that they are power packed and filled with nutrients that your body needs that you're probably not getting on a regular basis Now grains are seeds, but why is this not a grain?

Speaker 2:

Because the grain actually comes from grasses. So you've got your rice, your corn, all those, those are actually as plants, those are, quote unquote, grasses, whereas this is from not a grass a flowering plant. Yes, but a moment ago you were talking about having the nine different recipes that we rotate through. Well, we're creatures of habit, we like the things that we like and then we just kind of get in that habit. But this is why I say you don't have to master 400 different recipes to get a plant-based. Get those few favorites. You'll get in a rotation and then, as you get tired of one, find a new one. Now, as we always say, write this down so that you don't forget about them, because six months from now you may wanna go back and you've kind of forgotten so write down your favorites.

Speaker 1:

It happens you will forget. You think I'll never forget this. I love it. It tastes so good. As you find your new favorites, write them down. Keep that running list. You're gonna pound this home all the time. You're gonna hear it. Finding your new favorites is where it's at, because people can't stick with plant-based because they don't know how to make it joyful. Well, you can't make it joyful if you don't have your new favorites. So you've got to find those new favorites to replace that whole that you've made when you've removed these other things that you know are toxic to your health. Now, what are you gonna eat instead? It's like Jared says it's not, I can't have it. It's, how can I have?

Speaker 2:

it how can I?

Speaker 1:

All right, so I can't have tacos. Well, how can I have them? Well, I could put some beans in there and I could put some quinoa in there to bulk it up. I could put quinoa in my tacos and my burritos. How else could I eat my quinoa? I could sprinkle it on my salad to make it more stick to my ribs. I had a salad just yesterday. It was such a good salad. You know, if you don't like salad, you're just bored with the same old salad you've been eating forever. You need to branch out and get some new ingredients on there. Do you put fruit on your salad? Do you put beans on your salad? Do you put quinoa grains and seeds on your salad? Nuts, make it different, make it special.

Speaker 2:

New flavors, new textures, new sauces.

Speaker 1:

Go back and listen to our Sauce Boss episode. Become a Sauce Boss. That can change everything, and that's true for quinoa. You can take quinoa, put it in a bowl, add some steamed veggies or stir fry and add our Asian nut sauce from the Power and Plants Cookbook and you are set. You have an amazing meal that you can enjoy. Or you can take those grains and add some steamed veggies and I always mix in some raw as well, because I just love that and sometimes the raw has those enzymes that release the nutrients in your cooked food. There's a tip for you, and so you make this bowl and now you've got the space of quinoa and maybe some beans in there and those steamed veggies, and then you get a different sauce. You don't put the Asian nut sauce, maybe you drizzle balsamic vinegar or we talk about the vinegar and mustard that you can mix and make a dressing and some raw garlic in there to fight cancer and fight the inflammation and diseases and things like that. We just talked about garlic recently. You gotta go back and listen to that episode If you missed it. It is a winner. We've gotten so much good feedback on that one, but this is a great place to drop some garlic in, mix it in with your quinoa. Flavor those grains. Why are you leaving your grains bland tasting and then thinking I don't like that, you haven't put any flavor on it. You're not gonna go eat a plain old steak or a plain old piece of chicken and say, oh, I don't like steak or chicken. No, you're gonna put poor bottles. You're gonna pour bottles of sauces on that thing Marinade sauces, dressing.

Speaker 2:

Spices.

Speaker 1:

Spices. That's a great point. So flavor that we call it a grain, but flavor that seed. Okay, flavor that seed. Get your flavors in there with your sauces and your spices. So now we've got bowls. You can even do breakfast bowls, Breakfast bowls. Turn it into a porridge with some creamy milk and some berries. You can use it kind of as a tempura batter. You can blend it and make a flour. You can use it to crisp things up. Oh, there's just so many things you can do with quinoa. I mean, I love putting it in wraps. Just add bulks to wraps with my sandwiches and things like that. So it really is almost endless. If you don't know how to use it, you're wondering and you wanna see pictures. What are other people doing? I don't know how to get more of this into my life. I wanna eat more of the seed. I wanna see if I like it. What dressings can I put on it? Oh, maybe I tried it before and it didn't taste good. So I need to know how to put the sauces, how to put the spices, the herbs, the things like that on there. Well, I need to get somewhere where people are sharing what they're making so I can see what they're doing. Get those combo ideas. Get into our free group podcast insiders experience. Look, if you're only looking for nine meals, we're gonna be talking about this more. But if you've only gotta replace nine meals, I want you to sit down and think about what are the nine things that I eat over and over again, or just don't even think nine. What are the things I eat over?

Speaker 2:

and over again. What's your usual rotation?

Speaker 1:

Month by month. What's my usual rotation? You're gonna find that you have about nine things you eat over and over again in some form or fashion, some form of fashion. Every week, every month, same old things you're eating and you're worried that plant-based is gonna be restrictive If you go all in. We've got to stop believing the lives of the enemy. It's just not true. And once you get in and you start eating these things and finding the things that you absolutely love, your taste beds will change. All these opportunities are gonna open up for you because you're gonna get in a group when you're gonna gain ideas and inspiration. You're gonna see how other people are putting their meals together. You're gonna have coaches who care about you. Jared and I really care about you. We want to see you get to the next level because we know that when you fuel your body right Coronal G, beep, beep when you feel your body right I can't do it like Jared does, but okay, but listen when you get that right fuel in there, your body is able to thrive. How are you gonna step into the calling God has for you? How are you going to do the things that he's placed you on this earth to do when you don't feel good. Well, I don't feel my best. I mean, I have a business and I'm getting it done, but I don't really feel my best. Or you're crashing and burning midday, or you just can't wait to fall into your recliner and fall asleep after work, or fall into bed. Get the kids in a bed, like all you're doing in the evening, when you should be enjoying time with your family and friends. It's just dreaming of the time and pushing through so you can get to bed. What kind of life is that? Is that the kind of fullness of life that you were created to enjoy? Fuel your body. Well, get those new favorites in there and before long, when you start adding things like quinoa and we've given you several different ways you can start adding that. You're gonna get into pie. You're gonna learn inside this group how other people are doing it. What are they eating that has quinoa in it? Your ideas will sort. I mean you could make nine just off of quinoa meals. We're just talking about one simple seed here. You could do way more than nine. But think about how easy it would be just to come up with nine combo meals with quinoa. And then your mind starts to explode. You start to see the possibility of all the things that you've been taught to think or have come to believe are impossible for you or we'd be difficult for you to do. Oh, hopefully, plant mace is difficult. Oh, I just couldn't go all in. Oh, I could never do that. Well, you keep thinking that and guess what's gonna happen? You never will. This isn't God's will for you. God's will for you is not to stay in the same place where you are today, feeling stuck and Frustrated with your health struggles.
