We, too, tried exercising more, eating natural and clean foods, but we still found ourselves struggling with what we thought were changes that come with age or bad genes, and we weren't finding answers to traditional routes. What favorite plant based beverage you absolutely love, like hot chocolate or matcha latte? And today, if it's cold where you are, like it is here in Florida D, because let me tell you, it is not warm here today. And I say that and it's kind of funny because you're not always talk about how your body temp adjust when you move.

Speaker 2:

It has.

Speaker 1:

It's crazy. I mean I grew up in Chattanooga and 30s, you know, in the fall, winter time, getting down into 30s, it was kind of the norm. And here today is 68 and I've got this thick sweater and sweatpants on. I'm thinking what is going on around here? Something's not right.

Speaker 2:

And I used to live in Chattanooga. We both lived there for a number of years together and you just adjusted. But now 70 is 60 to us.

Speaker 1:

When you hit 70.

Speaker 2:

It's a little chill in there. I think I need a jacket.

Speaker 1:

It's a little more than chilly to me. I actually have my sweater and sweatpants on, no joke. So what in the world am I going to be wearing when it actually is winter time? I just don't know. I'm not real sure about that.

Speaker 2:

Let me just put it this way If you come to Florida, you're walking along the beach. You see someone in a parka. That's us.

Speaker 1:

No, it's funny. People come down from up north and they've got their little swimsuits on and I'm thinking what in the world? This is crazy. They're members of the polar bear club. What's going on here?

Speaker 2:

You can tell who the Canadians are. They're the ones in their swimsuits in the middle of February out in the water, and for them that's probably a warm bath, but for me that is thermal shock. I would go into cardiac arrest.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, Jared cannot stay in cold water.

Speaker 2:

I'm not a cold water person.

Speaker 1:

Not his thing. He will never be a member of the polar bear club.

Speaker 2:

I'm a member of the nollar bear club.

Speaker 1:

No. But what club do you want to be a member of? You want to be a part of the plant-based community that's going to help you get where you want to go, farther and faster. So today we're sharing with you the seven ways the right group will help you reach your health goals faster and easier too. And the first way is you can literally see and feel that you're not alone. You know, when you find the right community, you gain a safe, judgment-free zone to learn and grow. You find your instant family. I love it when this happens. It's always such a blessing to spend time with those who get you because they're on the same journey. We hear this so much from our Power and Plant Society members On the monthly live group coaching session. They're such an excitement. We're there together diving into plant-based strategies, learning and growing even more, and we hear it all the time. I'm just so happy to be hanging out with my people again my peeps, right. I love my pop's family. Some actually say they're fam. They shorten it my plant-based fam. Y'all are my plant-based fam. I've been looking forward to hanging out all day long, and that's how it is. When you find your people, you gain a connection you won't find anywhere else, and this is crucial.

Speaker 2:

And we really can't stress the importance of this enough, because if you ever in your lifetime have ever been in a situation maybe it was in high school, in a club sport or at work or something where you just felt alone, whether you were in a group of people or not, you felt alone because you didn't feel that connection with someone else that felt like they were on the same team, right, pulling you along with them. They understood your struggles, mm-hmm. Or let's say it worked. There's a certain procedure. You just didn't know. You didn't know who to ask. You think I've got to come up with this my own. But am I doing it right? I don't know. And it's just so stress-inducing, nerve-wracking, and it doesn't have to be that way. But right Again, the example of being at work. But you find that coworker, they've got a smile on their face. They say listen, don't worry about it, I know exactly what to do. Do this, this and this, and what seemed like it was going to be this insurmountable task becomes just easy breezy. It makes all the difference in the world.

Speaker 1:

Because you got your family there. They're backing you up, you're helping each other along the way, and it makes all the difference. Step number two is this is going to help ensure you actually make it out of the bucket. By bucket, I mean your health struggle. So have you ever seen the videos or heard the story of the crabs in the bucket? Have you seen that one? Uh, I'm not sure.

Speaker 2:

Is this a video you're talking about?

Speaker 1:

Video or story.

Speaker 2:

I'm not sure if I've seen the video you're talking about, but I know what you're alluding to.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you think about it. So if you've ever seen that, or maybe you live somewhere where there are blue crabs we see this in our area so when you've got these crabs in a bucket, what happens eventually is one of them starts trying to crawl out. They start trying to get out and the other crabs are reaching over and they're grabbing at the crab, pulling it back down into the bucket and keeping it from gaining its freedom. Think about that for a minute. When one tries to escape, the others are grabbing it, pulling it down into the bucket. Sadly, people can be that way too, and I think sometimes that happens because they just don't understand the new path that you're on.

Speaker 2:

They don't understand, I would think a lot of times they have good intentions, but if it's something that's foreign to them, or maybe they've heard lessons or information to the contrary, specifically myths and sometimes have even been told lies and don't know that it's a lie. But they can be almost like a negative community. They wanted to keep you with them in the bucket. But you've got this thing, this heart's desire, this burning within this goal that you have and you're trying to reach it. But those other crabs are grabbing on to you, holding you back.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, sadly, there are some people that just don't like seeing others move ahead, because that would mean that maybe they need to move ahead, maybe they need to change something.

Speaker 2:

So it's just reality.

Speaker 1:

It's reality. It just goes along with trying to improve yourself and move ahead, and that goes with this next point. Point number three being in community not only enables you to reach your goals, but it also allows you to reach them faster with other people. Maybe you've heard the quote that said about how you're most like the sum total of the five people you spend most of your time around. I can't remember the exact quote. Do you remember what it is?

Speaker 2:

No, but that's ballpark. I mean, that's a gist of it.

Speaker 1:

It's basically you become like the five people you spend the most time around, and it is so very true. Think about it for a minute. Think about the five people in your life that you hang around with the most. Are they going somewhere? Are they headed on a path? Are they trying to better themselves? Are they growing spiritually? Are they encouraging you to grow, or are they really happy with where they are? Or maybe they're in some habits that they've gotten you into just by association, not even trying to, just because that's who you spend time with, so you do the things they do, because you want to spend time together, and so you get into those same activities together. It's really important that you take the steps to surround yourself with those who are moving forward in life, who have goals to live their best life and are actively taking the steps to make that happen. So if you're trying to adopt a whole few plant-based lifestyle and those around you most Just want to sit around and complain about their current situation or their health struggles, while they keep eating the foods that are harmful to them, most likely your life's gonna end up looking a lot like they are. Sadly, it's just what happens. But when the truth of that sinks in. It brings you to the point where you're empowered to do something to change the outcome of your life. You know the things we talk about not just limiting and Removing the harmful things from your life, but what beneficial things can you get back into their place. Look, this applies to people too. Now, I know that you can't go around removing family members. This isn't what I'm talking about here.

Speaker 2:

And it may be hard to remove coworkers unless you have the ability and the power to fire.

Speaker 1:

That's a great point, but you can limit the time that you spend copying any distracted behaviors they're living out by increasing the time you spend with those who are like-minded, those who are moving ahead, those who are Finding a way to heal naturally from their health struggles. It makes all the difference. Find those to surround yourself with who are where you want to go already and others who are headed in that same direction. Jared and I found that in every area of life this makes all the difference. It can actually decide whether you meet your goals or not, because it's easy to kind of go it alone For a while, but when you find your crew, you know have to go it alone. You know.

Speaker 2:

The thought that comes to mind with that is that our oldest son he's trying to learn guitar and he's very musical and I have no doubt he's going to become a very skilled musician. And he's learning stuff on his own right now, going through some online classes and whatnot, but it's still there's no live interaction with someone else that is farther than them, where he is right now, and so we're looking into getting him in with an instructor, a mentor or possibly even a group like this that's designed for guitar, because he's going to learn things from them. They're going to be able to offer Suggestions, they may be able to listen to what he's doing and say, hey, I hear what you're trying to do, but here's a way to do better finger placement. That makes it easier and it just again, it makes all the difference.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it reminds me of with him how there's this band that Jared and I love. They play fusion jazz. We absolutely love them. Their name is Raymond Street. We've gotten to meet them and gotten to know their mom. Actually, we have a loved getting to know her. She is so sweet. But if you're looking for good music, by the way, go check out Roman Street.

Speaker 2:

Spotify Apples, roman Street their music is amazing.

Speaker 1:

We love listening to them play guitar, but he was able to go and meet them and talk to them and he got so much inspiration Just by being in their presence. I mean, these are guys that have walked the path that he took, that started playing when they were younger.

Speaker 2:

They have the skills, and what we learned is that they started their path at the same age as our son is right.

Speaker 1:

And so then he's thinking, okay, they've done this and they started it made. Well, then what's he thinking? Now I Can do that too. It just makes it so much more doable because you have this connection with people who are there already, who have walked the same path that you've walked. They know what to do, they can make it easier, and they actually one of them, josh, was just so awesome and he sent Matthew an email Telling him hey, here's some instructors you might really love to get connected with online and here's some things I would recommend, and it just helps so much to be able to have somebody who can do that for you.

Speaker 2:

It just really makes all the pales you forward so much faster. It's amazing because it gives you those connections that you either would not have found at all or it may have taken much, much longer to Find those right.

Speaker 1:

And that leads us into step four Giving and receiving encouragement. This is one of the huge benefits. You know he was really encouraged with that meeting and this is the same thing we see inside our membership. Some days you might face challenges. Some days others will face challenges. Being there for one another. Well, that's kingdom. Living as believers, we're instructed to build one another up. This is love in action. Have you ever had a really hard day? Think about it for a minute and someone comes along and they share that. They understand what you're going through because of what they've experienced in their own life, and then they remind you that it's all gonna be okay. Receiving that is Absolutely wonderful. It can be life-changing, but being the person that offers that to another, that is such a beautiful way to serve one another in love.

Speaker 2:

But what's comforting about that is they tell you it's going to be okay because they've walked that path right. They know you're gonna be okay because they've done it and they've been okay. They're not just saying just a pat on the back with encouragement oh it's gonna be good, Everything's gonna work out. And while there's value in that, there's more value if you realize they've done it right they know it's gonna be okay.

Speaker 1:

Right, and in this case it's gonna be delicious.

Speaker 2:

I'm just saying it's okay and taste great.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, cuz that's the foodie in me, it's got to be easy. But what's gonna make it okay is that food got to taste mouthwatering good. That's all I know. I've got to know how to do that in a way that works for me. And it's got to taste good. And the fifth way that being in community Helps so much is you're able to gain and share new ideas. We've talked about this a little bit already, but it's so important for you to view your plant-based group as your mastermind, not just a membership. This may be the most important thing I share with you today. In a membership, you're gonna go in there with the goal of amassing knowledge. I'm gonna go in, I'm gonna get knowledge, I'm gonna get this, get that, learn this, learn that, and you're just learning, learning, learning, learning, and so you're stacking up all this knowledge of facts. Sure, you need the right info, but what else really makes the right group a special place for learning? This is what makes all the difference is that you're able to bounce ideas off each other. You're able to ask for suggestions and give suggestions. As for recipe suggestions, think about that a minute and share the recipes that you found in love, too. Things like helping each other, build your very own Go-to favorites list that you're going to love. If you've been around here long, you've heard us talk about that. We talk about it in the membership all the time too. These are the things that make all the difference and where you can go and what you can attain on your plant-based journey.

Speaker 2:

So decide today I'm gonna be an active part of my plant-based community participation is so important because you are you, and what I mean by that is you are the only person that is you. You are unique. You have your own ideas. You may be new in the beginning. That's okay. As you start to try things, as you get suggestions, you may come up with a spark of an idea and think, wow, this flavor combination, for example, would be interesting, and you try it and you think that's really good. And then you share that with others and then you likely will hear people say, wow, that's amazing, never would have thought that. Then you get excited and you start moving forward and get encouraged to Get more ideas and share those ideas. So again, you are uniquely you. You have your own unique thumbprint, you have your own unique ideas and that's lost if you don't share it.

Speaker 1:

But one of the things I think that holds us back is we get in the community and then we think, oh, but I've got to be perfect before I share. I can't possibly know anything. This is only my second day if doing plant-based. But if you share as you go, it really can make all the difference to someone else, even someone who's farther down the path than you, because you're starting and you have all this excitement and new ideas and things that you're sharing. It's just gonna get them excited again and help them learn. But the problem is Especially the type A of S. If any of you are out there, type A, you get what I'm talking about, like you want to wait till Everything's perfect and you got it perfectly figured out. Or maybe you know you tried this great meal and you've absolutely enjoyed it, but you've got to get the perfect photo of that meal with all the plants set up behind it and you got to have the lighting just right before you snap it. No, no, listen, stop it, let that go. Take the two seconds to snap it and share it. I don't care if it looks messy, I don't care if you already took a bite of that meal. Listen, there is somebody out there that needs that recipe, that needs to know what you've thrown together that didn't even require a recipe. Share these things with each other. Get in there, learn and give and grow together. I just love it when our pops members do this, because the truth is, no one cares if the photo of that meal you just enjoyed is perfect. They just want to see you share what you've tried and enjoyed, because it might just be exactly what they're looking for to. I cannot stress this enough what a huge key to success in plant-based living this is. Don't just think about what you can gain from the community. Ask what can I give to help others, because it's in the giving that even more blessings than you can even contain Are going to come your way. There's nothing more rewarding than helping each other as we travel through this life together, and it's through that sharing that you're going to be blessed and grow the most. I just love it when this happens. It just never gets old. Point number six by being in like-minded Community, you're more likely to take action and much more easily Remember what you've learned. Picture yourself asking questions, taking action, practicing what you've learned, sharing your wins and gaining encouragement. Doing these things reinforces what you've learned so you can Remember it better. But let's just say it's a rare occasion that you happen to forget what it was exactly that your friend Robin Said inside the group about how she made that gluten-free bread that she absolutely loves. You know she shared it a few months back and you want to try your hand at it. Well, if you're inside power and plant society, you're gonna go to the search bar where you can easily search the entire community Feed and the video platform. Things aren't gonna disappear down a typical online feed. Do you think being able to search like that will help you to take action on the new techniques and skills you're learning so that you can Remember them better? Absolutely it will, because you're going to quickly and easily find exactly what you're looking for instead of getting Frustrated and wasting your time. And if you don't see a past post about what you're seeking, you can ask and get the answers you need right there from each other, from us, and keep moving forward. Community helps you avoid the frustration and the overwhelm of not knowing what to do, so that you're able to start taking action right away and getting the results you're after and remembering what you've learned.

Speaker 2:

And one of the sad things about when you get frustrated is you tend to get stalled. You stop any momentum, any forward movement, and then it's so much harder to get that momentum back. So absolutely in there, ask your question. Likely someone's gonna give you an answer pretty quickly, and then you just keep rocking and rolling.

Speaker 1:

You know, ball, it's how you grow. You start rolling, you gain momentum and you're growing, and you're growing and you're growing.

Speaker 2:

You want to grow your knowledge as you gain, like with the snowball, gain more mass to it, more forward momentum, and you carry more snowflakes with you. You grab more snowflakes. You start Snowflakes are pretty, they're all pretty and they're all unique. What I'm saying is that you start to maybe pull others along with you in your momentum and they gain momentum along with you right. And then it's a movement.

Speaker 1:

That's what it's all about. That's what it's all about. We're all going and we're going together. We're not just gonna sit on the couch eating our chips and watching movies all day long. We got stuff to do. Listen, you have a calling on your life. You have an amazing Mission that you've been placed here to fulfill. You may not feel like it. You may be thinking, anita, I'm not that special. Yes, you are. Yes, you are because you're a child of the king and he has got people for you to meet, places for you to go, and right there inside your own home. You've got to feel good enough to even be able to be there for your family. I get that. I've been there. And you can go so much farther, so much faster when you go there with those who care about you, who are your family, who you can walk this journey with side by side. And step number seven is you're going to gain real connection with real people who genuinely care. Listen, sister, I'm so over social media. Are you clapping right now? Are you shouting? Are you lifting trans to the sky? Are you saying amen? Because I'm so over it. I do not like being on it. Jerry can tell you it's true, I avoid it as much as humanly possible.

I've deleted Facebook off my phone.

Speaker 1:

We do not host our community membership there, and there's a reason for that. It's distracting and there's lack of real relationship. But the main reason is that Jared and I value real, authentic connection. Sadly, that's something that's really missing today. You know what I mean. I want authenticity, and I'm sure you do too, because real is so rare today. So when we find the place where we can talk freely with one another, learn and grow and really do life together in a safe space, getting to know each other on an authentic level, it's so encouraging and it's just so refreshing and that changes everything. So today we have shared with you Seven ways. The right group will help you reach your health goals faster and easier to Do. Step number one is you can literally see and feel that you are not alone. Inside the right community, you gain a safe, judgment-free zone to learn and grow. You find your instant family Benefit. Number two is it will help to ensure that you actually make it out of the bucket, that being your health struggles. The third benefit of being in community is that it not only enables you to reach your health goals, but you'll reach them faster and you'll go farther in the process. The fourth benefit is you will give and receive Much-needed encouragement. Some days you're gonna face challenges, some days others will, so you'll be able to be there for each other. And Benefit five is you'll gain and share new ideas. It's so important that you don't see this group is just a membership, but a mastermind. You're not just amassing knowledge. You're there, learning and growing together in the special place that's uniquely your own. And the sixth benefit is that you're more likely to take action and much more easily able to Remember what you've learned. Benefit seven is you'll gain real connection with real people who genuinely care about you.
