That's what power plants is all about. So pull up your chair, grab a matcha latte, and let's get started. Hey, there, sunshine, we are so excited to be hanging out with you again today, these things we are talking about, on these last couple of episodes, actually, pretty much on all the episodes, these are these big game changers for us. But we are talking about developing a simple system, what do you do when you're stuck? Your health is holding you back. I mean, it's keeping you stuck and keeping you away from all the things you want in your life that you just wish you could do. But you can't do it because your body won't let you. I mean, we're all about building your dream body. And when I say that to people, I feel like oh, they're gonna think I'm saying this body that has certain curves and looks a certain way. But it's not about that building your dream body. A dream body is like a dream car that's going to get you to where you want to go. I mean, you want something that's going to the ride is going to be smooth, it's going to allow you to go all the place you want to do. Why is it because it's about the places? No, it's about what you're going to do when you arrive at those places so that our body is our vehicle, that when it's functioning, right, it's gonna allow us to do the things that were We were created to

Jarrod:

do. It's like the example of our Honda Odyssey. I love the Honda Odyssey van. Yeah, I just I do because it rides well, and it's a safe vehicle. But it's not about the vehicle. It's about where it takes us. Right. And is it reliable? Does it take us there? Well, I say quickly, I mean, yeah, if you've got a speed limit on the interstate of 70 miles an hour, but your van can only go 30 Because it doesn't have the energy doesn't have the pickup to go, then it's not going to be the right ride, right? I mean, it's just it's not about the vehicle. It's about where that vehicle can take you

Anita:

what it enables you to do. What does that open up? What possibilities does it open up for you in your life? And so I'm gonna say he really does like how the van looks though. I'm just gonna throw that out there. He likes the van. But you've got

Jarrod:

if it was just me my car. No, that's not what I would choose, right. But it allows us to do but it handles well, it drives great, it's comfortable. It's kind of fun, and it's kind of sporty.

Anita:

But the beauty about living this way is it does make your body fall into the categories of hey, I'm losing this weight, hey, if I feel more beautiful, because I'm able to wear clothes, I like things like that it does allow you to do those things. But that's not what we're really going after as losing the pounds. So you know this or that. It's about the opportunities that might make it possible for you because you feel better and you can do the things that you dreamed about doing before. But she felt so bad. You just thought but you know what to do that like maybe you're you've worked all day and you're so exhausted and you spent every bit of energy, but you'd really like to go out with your friends and family who've invited you out tonight but you quote just don't feel like it. I mean that was my story every day I can't do this thing because I don't feel like it and I can't you know on this trip I'm not gonna be able to do this thing or that thing fully experiencing all those places I've dreamed about going I'm gonna get there and I'm gonna miss out on it. That was my story in China. You know when we went to adopt Kate, I look back with so much regret because there was so many and there were so many things I wanted to do when we got there and I was stuck in the hotel room unless we were just on those mandatory trips. Because I was so sick by that we got there I just I wanted to survive get her home

Jarrod:

there were a couple of excursions that they had planned I think one was to Zoo one was a river cruise and you just need to bet everything flying 12 hours was a 12 hour change in the timezone. Yeah, we're not even showing the lack of sleep did to my boss and all that is key. So yeah, yeah, but so if

Anita:

you have not heard episode 119 and episode 20 The two before this, go back first listen to 119 these are big, big game changers. We're talking about what do you do when you're in a situation like this? When you feel just overwhelmed by the situation that you're in, but you know that you don't want to stay there, you know, there's got to be something better. You just don't know what the answer is 119 and 120 are going to help you a lot. And those are really more important than listening to this one right now. Because those lay the framework for these next seven episodes perfectly into this one, right? So you've got two here, 119 first, then 120, then come back and press play on this episode. So what we're talking about today is step number one in the power on plants. mindset. Okay, that's mindset. Step one in the power plant Success Path. That's mindset. Alright, so mindset is all about embracing healthy beliefs of why is this important? What does it have to do with food? Right? I mean, you think okay, now discovered that it's fair, that fades are given me the answers that I need. And so it's got to be all about the food. Right? And that was one of the things that almost got a sidetrack because we're just looking for recipes, looking for recipes, and you get on these sites, and you think that must be the answer, right? Because I'm going to these healthy plant based websites, so I can learn to get more fruits and veggies and the only thing they're offering me is recipes. But what I can tell you is, there's a whole lot more to get in this right than just recipes. Yeah, you need those. But there are steps that you need to know how to take to get other things right in other areas, or you're never gonna get this result you're after.

Jarrod:

And another aspect of the food that I just now remembered looking back is we're looking at is there this one superfood that if we just got that one food that would make all the difference? And everybody's always looking for that one magic cure that exotic superfood that oh, it was found in this remote little village in Africa or Asia. Okay, now the holy grail of you got to eat this and everything's better. Now.

Anita:

You know, I'm going to drop this though, because I really, really like some super fades. I mean, there's Alma powder, some people call it a Mullah powder. There are different superfoods that are great for you. That yeah, if you can do that you should be eating those things. But

Jarrod:

if God puts superfood, yes, all around the world, blueberries are a superfood. Absolutely. sigh bass mangosteen. I mean, there are a lot of well, yeah, even in your own, I grew up

Anita:

with him riding him around the wildly ambitious huckleberries. We call them in south but you know, just picking those fill in your jar full. And honestly, that's probably one of the things that kept me surviving. As long as I did that foundation. Yeah. And there's wild blackberry bushes, you know, the super foods grown right in my yard. But if you're not blessed enough to have that, go to your grocery store. Or if you're really blessed enough to have a phone or internet with a grocery store close by, sometimes you need to get those delivered right to your door. I mean, and if you're listening to us right now, I suspect you probably have both Internet and the mobile phone, and probably even have the ability to get some type of blueberry fresh or frozen into your body in a way that brings you joy, right? So get that super fit, because that's the good stuff. But we're talking about step number one and what comes before the feed, because there's something that's really important. We've already mentioned it, but you've got to get this key, right. And I'm telling you, it is key. There's a lot of different things that we teach under this one, one area mindset adore Yes, I mean, this is one category. And then there are all these different things in this category that really do need to be dealt with. And why is mindset so important? Do you think Jared? I mean, what is what is it behind the mindset, that's just the key to unlocking the help we're after, so that we can do the things we wanted? I would

Jarrod:

say first, the first thing is, is you need to know what's possible, because that you may be having some wrong beliefs, either things that you just thought, or things that maybe you were taught, that aren't really true, or aren't completely accurate.

Anita:

Exactly. And for us, it was a lot of times, you know, we were taught things we learned things in school that were wrong, either about nutrition or something about us and and maybe you're taught it in school, you know about our life. And so, I've learned these things in school, and now have these things I've learned from experiences. And so you're, you're a mixture of all these things you've taken in of all these things that you've been told, or that you've seen on advertisements and billboards around you, or you've heard the grocer in the store, you know, say to this guy that's come in there and He's instructing them about nutrition. He says, Whatever you do, don't eat carbs, you know, don't eat a banana. I mean, those are terrible for you, right? And so you've gotten programmed around all these different things like that. And like thinking that diets are the answer just there's so many different things around mindset. And the you want to say something

Jarrod:

Well, I was gonna say if something that you've learned from someone say a family member, these misconceptions I don't think always come from a place of of ill intent. Now. I think it's misconceptions because you look at just kind of the the scientific knowledge. I'm using air quotes here, kind of the world of science, and a lot of what we understand now, we didn't understand the beginning. I remember we had a friend Many years ago, who was actually science professor, and he would get to the end of his class and say it was the very last day, they probably had just taken their final or something. And he would say, all right, class 50% of what I just told you is not true. And everybody would look at him think what which part? Would I mean, I got to know, tell me, I mean, were you lying to us? And then he would say, well, we just don't know yet. Right? That our level of understanding is always improving. So sometimes someone may teach you something, and that is what their level of understanding is. But it may not be true. And that's why like you say, we're so big on the research, what do the studies show, at least to the best of our ability, at this point in time? What is the level of understanding,

Anita:

you know, just listening to you, then it just reminds me that there's some other things at play there too, though. Like, you really need to no matter what somebody is teaching you, they are things like you need to, you need to listen to your body. Now, just thought about that. If you're hearing these things, and you're learning these things, you still got to pay attention to your own experiences and what's happening in your own life to very true, but you're learning. I mean, there are a lot of things we teach life that around this, but that's one of the things that just popped into my mind. And I thought, you know, we do teach around these things, because you can't just listen at face value. I mean, what what's the research say? What is the experience of the other people who've gone through it? And then how does it make me feel what's happening in my body? What is the lab work? Say? What did you know? Why is that? Like, if something's improving? Why is that? And if something's not improving, what's going on there? Why is that? Ask those questions, ask them to whoever's leading you. Ask them to your medical professional. But listen to your body. It's kind of like the warning light on the dash of your car,

Jarrod:

no red light comes on. And you think, well, but I just changed the oil. Why that was oil light coming out, well, maybe there's something going on there.

Anita:

Talking to us, it's always sending us signals. But you got to be able to hear it. And be tuned into

Jarrod:

something else too about mindset. What I had mentioned before is number one, number two is that your intention will direct your path, meaning you have to be intentional about something to make you go where you need to go,

Anita:

you've got a line, what you're saying is you got to line up your actions with your intention. So you've got to, is that what you're saying? So if you want to get somewhere in life, you've got your actions have got to line up without or you're never going to get there. Is that what you're saying? Yes. And if your beliefs are wrong, then you're not going to go where it is. You want to go? Oh, yeah, you're going to be totally off path. So that's why this is so important. Why we like to address this first because it directs everything else after it. Well, then there so you think okay, there are things I've learned that I've been taught that I've learned through my experience there the opinions of others, there are ads, there are things that many Yeah, so you gotta think Milt, you know, how many years do we listen to milk? It does a body good all the while now? No, it was one of the things that was making me very sick, my addiction to cheese and dairy and creams. And

Jarrod:

you will notice, just as a side note, they can no longer advertises milk does a body good now it's just yeah, got milk. There's reason for that different discussion. But there's a reason for that. You're not allowed to do that anymore, right. But I think of like a flashlight, if I want to look, it's nighttime, I've got a tree in front of me. But if I shine that flashlight off to the side, well, I'm not going to see what's going on in the tree. So my intention has to be on pointing that light forward for that light to go there for me to get that result of illuminating the tree.

Anita:

Makes sense. Makes perfect sense. So mindset is really important. Because what you think you believe will you start to believe it starts to be built into the core of who you are. And what you see and what you hear all those things are super important. Even on a spiritual level, what you're bringing in it molds what you believe. And everything you see in here is filtered through what you believe. Right? And then what happens after that? Well, your beliefs lead to action. Exactly right. So you're gonna do what you think and what you believe. So if you've have these thoughts that have come in, and you have these teachings and trainings or ads that have come in, that trains you well to eat their foods, and it happens all the time. It happens on the front of the box. It happens on the sales ads, it happens on billboards, it happens on TV on the radio,

Jarrod:

they throw the word healthy around, very liberally,

Anita:

healthy and simple, and natural, and organic. Oh, there's plenty of stuff that's held behind or an organic label that that will make your skin curl iffy. So we're getting it I'm not saying organic, it's not important, but they just they use these words that sound healthy, to make you think it's healthy. And you got to learn how to look beyond that and get to the deeper thing of what's really in there.

Jarrod:

But that's all part of the advertising. I mean, the average tising they're doing their jobs. Well, I mean, I have to give it to exactly what well,

Anita:

they're making you think a certain thing about their product, because if you think it, you're going to believe it. And if you believe it, you're going to buy it, and you're going to eat it, and you're going to feel good about it at the same time. Right? So this is where we were I Oh, yeah, it's totally our show. And I get it. And so we've got to have our eyes open to these things of what are these mindsets that I've taken in that are just pervasive in our society that are not only wrong, just because we somebody thinks they're wrong tells me they're wrong. But research shows that it's wrong, it's not going to give me the result it says, And you know, when you keep doing the same things over and over, we've heard this time and again, you probably heard it called insanity. But I want to tell you, it really is true, because you're hoping to get a different result. But you're looking at your neighbor, and you see the newest fad, the latest diet, they're on keto, paleo, whatever diet they're on, and I was the lightest fat and they're doing it, they're getting some great results. Well, let's march that out about five to 10 years and look at their vessels and see, are they clogged? Let's look at how their heart function is. How's their immune system working? Are there? Are they a king? Have they gained all their weight back and more, because everything can give you some change? Just because you're changing stuff up? Most everything can give you some sort of change. But you want to march that out? What does the research show? The long term effects of that are on your health, on your heart on your vessels? Is it helping people to not only prevent, but even reverse diseases? I mean, we've talked about this very telling. We've seen people's vessels on films be opened up, you can see on the film, they were clogged, they were things were not traveling through them the way they shouldn't. Why does that matter? Well, it's a sign it's your body telling you some not right here. And so when your

Jarrod:

nutrients exactly in the waist can't be taken away. It's just the body can't do what it's supposed to do.

Anita:

So what was that last part? So the nutrient, you're not getting your nutrients, but they brought out something really important, the waste can be taken out. So what happens when waste stagnates in your body? disease happens? That's what that's those

Jarrod:

are the reasons what happens if in the bathroom, the waist don't get taken away.

Anita:

Yeah. And then, you know, we're we've grown up believing that pooping once a week, or once twice a week is normal. That's not normal. I'm just thinking,

Jarrod:

what if your toilet doesn't flush? I mean, it's very gross. But I mean, it's, it's an example. Yes, the waste products need to be processed and your body needs to work, like a well oiled machine like it was created to do.

Anita:

Yeah, it's a totally on a different thought process. I was totally somewhere different with that. But both are true, they're both true, you've got to get the waste out of your house. And first, you got to get it out of your body. If it stays there, it stagnates and can cause leaky gut, which can cause a whole slew of problems. I won't even go into that. And you know, that sounds all medically and all. But truthfully, you have a thin wall, a very thin wall of cells and parts of your gut that I mean, one layer thick, and when that breaks down, because the waist can't get out, and the nutrients aren't getting in. And so the back area, yeah, yeah, the wrong bacteria are growing, because the good bacteria aren't getting the fed the fiber they need, well, why aren't they getting the fiber? They because animal feeds do not have any fiber at all? And why? But why aren't you eating a plant foods? Right? Because we think that keto or paleo is the way to go. So we got a lot of animal products. And who could blame you? That's what you hear exactly.

Jarrod:

You hear it all the time. So I mean, that's just an example of kind of what we're saying about the mindset, how it leads down the road to other things. Or if

Anita:

you're like us, we didn't do those things. But what we did was we ate a lot of those foods, we ate a lot of the meats and cheeses and things. But we thought it was okay. Because we were getting the better choices, right? We're getting organic, cage free, no added hormones, all those

Jarrod:

things. nitrides. Like with the sliced meats? Oh, yeah, slice mates,

Anita:

no, nitrites No, nitrites. We don't want any of those preservatives. So it was better. And we were getting a little bit of results. But it just wasn't getting us out of that hole we ran. It wasn't opening up the opportunities that we wanted to see. It wasn't the best that we could do. No, but we we didn't know. So we just did what we know. And that's what you do. I absolutely. If you've tried and you struggled and you haven't been able to get out of this place where you just feel stuck. You've tried, you've got the right mindset in that, you know, there's something you need to do and that should be applauded. Because all that work. It's been a lot of work. And you've done an amazing job to get up. I mean, the fact that you would get up from that situation of that miserable diet where you had to do all these things that would never last and do another one and another one and another one or keep searching for another medicine and another medicine and another medicine and you're still not getting those results, but you keep going back. I mean,

Jarrod:

you're trying that's determination. So yes, that definitely deserves to be applauded.

Anita:

Absolutely, it needs to be recognized. And you've got the right gumption is what we would call it back in, you know, when I grew up in the South that you got the gumption that you need to get the results you're after, you just need the right plan, you need the right strategy. And that starts with step number one of our success path. And that is getting your mindset, right. Because again, what you think becomes what you believe in what you believe is how you're going to walk out your life, it's, it determines the actions you're going to take. So those actions are what are going to get you results or keep you where you are, no matter the intentions, the actions, if they're not based on facts that bring the results that you want are never going to get you where you want to go is like Jared said with that spotlight or like we're thinking, you know, GPS in the car, you enter the wrong destination, you got the GPS, but you enter the wrong thing in there,

Jarrod:

and you're doing the action. Yeah, you're dropping headed to the right destination,

Anita:

right. And so then you're never going to be where you want to be. And we don't want that for you. We know that you can get unstuck. But the first key is getting those wrong mindsets out. And then Jared and I are really, really big on the fact that you can't take something out and just leave an empty hole. I mean, this is a biblical principle. It's a more specific biblical principle about something it doesn't, you know, it's not one of those, oh, it can apply to everything. But really, it does apply in your health. Because if you take start taking stuff out, especially if it's stuff you really love, or you think you love, what are you gonna do with that? I mean, we're going to get into this more when we go to step number three. And I won't tell what that is yet. But but of our strategy. Step number three deals a lot with this. But this is the same thing in mindset. If you get rid of an old mindset, you've got to find out what that's not right. What is, what should I've been doing all along, because it's then that you can start to move forward and gain that momentum that you're after that is going to get you where you want to go. It's like

Jarrod:

with a GPS example. So we take the wrong address out of the GPS, but we're not going anywhere. So you have to put the correct address in there. So you go to the correct destination.

Anita:

We want to get where we want to be. And it happens by getting the wrong things out, getting the right things in. But it's got to be done in a way that is based on facts. It's based on science. It's based on research that we know that works, right? Yes. And we've got to do it in a way that's easy enough that it works with a busy woman's lifestyle. I'm speaking from my own experience for you busy man's lifestyle, too. I mean, he's a man

Jarrod:

working with a busy wife,

Anita:

living with a busy wife. But that's the thing. So it's got to be in a way that simple enough that works for you that, that time wise, it's gonna make sense that can help you stay within a budget. These are all the things that bring you one big key. One big key you need to get your power on plants. And that's enjoying it, you know, we have something we call that we're going to go into that that's one of the big things we're teaching on in this training that's coming up. You got Do not miss out on the training is only going to be available for a very short time. But we're opening this app just to give people to allow you to have these mindset shifts that you need, because they're big keys that you need that nobody's talking about. And we want to make those available for you. And it's going to be a four part video training workshop that's free. It's called power on plants. Kickstart kick, start. I need say that yes. Alright. So it's the power plants kickstart is coming up. It's four straight videos, just all filled with training that's going to help you to move the needle to get where you want to go. Okay, so today, we talked about the first step in this path of healing. That's getting the right mindset, knowing what you need to do. But first, knowing what you've learned that is working against you. that's holding you back. Yes, get that out, get the right stuff in and then you're ready, then you're ready to go. That's the very first step. We have loved having you with us today as we've unpacked a mindset.
