Anita:

We're back and you're back. We love having you here hanging out with us again. And if you're new for the first time, welcome to power on plant. This is where we talk about how do you heal with whole plant foods and natural living, so that you can get from where you are to where you want to be. Because it's like we've been talking about I mean, we've been talking about this for 120 episodes or more now, I think we're beyond 120. But especially since episode 119, if you have not heard it, go back and start because this episode today builds on the past three 119 121 21. There we are one on 122 22. Yeah, okay, so go back, please, and start with 119. And even if you don't listen to them all today, just over the course of the next few days, just listen to 119 2021 and then come back to this one, because it's not going to make as much sense. But that's not most importantly, going to bring you the benefit that you get if you hear those first. It's like walking into a movie theater about 30 minutes into a movie, you may still enjoy it, especially if it's an action packed movie,

Jarrod:

you may still enjoy it, but you're gonna be asking the neighbor, what did I miss? What did I miss? What Why is he doing this? What did that mean? Exactly? Why not get the full story? That's a great example. Jared. I love that. So yeah, my superpower is coming up with examples. You

Anita:

story. Your story example, God, I like it. Although occasionally those examples don't work. And they kind of fizzle. So if that ever happens. Forgive me. What happens from time to time? And one thing you gotta know is today is I know it's gonna be released after this date. But today's a big day for Jared. He's an old man today.

Jarrod:

Yes, today is actually my birthday. And yet, and you may

Anita:

think I'm calling him an old man, because he turned 50 today. No, no, that's not it. It's because his birthday is on October 19. My birthday is on the 21st. And there's less than 24 hours difference between us. And yes, we were born in the same year, just over 24 hours. God has a great sense of humor, or grainy nine hours between us. So he has a great sense of humor, or God has a great plan. I think it's kind of both actually. So every year for that 20 How many hours to sound like

Jarrod:

29 hours? I'd say. Just over just over? Yes. Because I was late night on the 19th. And you were early morning on the 21st. So for those couple days, I'm quote unquote, the old man,

Anita:

I get to call it a day day and a half. So fine. So I'm like, Oh, you're an old man. Because today I'm 49. And you're 50. So

Jarrod:

she's a young whippersnappers. You know it. So far, you're always arm candy. Just my young arm candy for those two days.

Anita:

That was so nice. But today, we are delving into the second part of our strategic system power on plants. And that's how you get your power back by fueling your body the way that's going to nourish it the best why? So you can find a way of living you love that's going to heal your body, right so that you can do all those things that you only dreamed about doing before and that you're just miserable every time you thought about because you knew you were going to have to say, when the opportunities came. I just don't feel like it. I mean, honestly, that was my mantra, I don't believe in mantra has been you know, and that was a kind of my wife saying back then. And I would have never called it that because that would have been depressing. But I constantly thought, Yes, that's what you said all the time. I thought it all the time. I can't, I don't feel like it. I can't, I don't feel like it. No one should have to live that way. We don't want you to have to live that way. It doesn't have to be your story. And that's why we're so passionate show up and do the things we do. And

Jarrod:

when you mentioned about getting the energy back getting your life back. I'm always in my mind thinking. It's so that you can affect and change lives around you. And you may and you may think of it in the form of either a business or a ministry. But even if you're a stay at home Mom, how much more can you give of yourself to those children? When you feel better when you have the energy you have the mental clarity in those little precious lives are

Anita:

changed. So when Jared said even if they're I know that he didn't mean anything like, oh, being a stay at home mom is less than because I've been a stay Oh, absolutely not a year. So I know it's hard. But I know when I listen to things and hear things like that, I think, Wait a minute, you just say even if so, my man filter didn't catch it. The thing is, is I've stayed at home and homeschooled our kids ever since they were little. And we value that and treasure. And so what he's saying there is and tell me if I'm correct, is that it matters, no matter what situation you're in. And especially being a mother, being an aunt being a grandmother. I mean, you're planting in those little lives. And these are, yeah, these are things are important. These are the things that

Jarrod:

matter. So maybe some maybe you don't feel like you have a large sphere of influence where you're out in the world. And you're doing this and that with all these people exactly, that those lives are precious, and you can pour into them. So these principles work no matter what your situation is. These are

Anita:

the future world changers. We're absolutely the future world changers. So today, we're talking about step number two, speaking of the people around you, we're talking about surroundings. And so step number two is creating a supportive environment for yourself. This is one of the big keys, which is why is one of our steps, because you've got to first get your mindset, right, we talked about that on the last episode, you've got to hear that. Okay. And then step two is you've got to get the surroundings right now, what do we mean by that? Exactly? There's several different things involved with getting your surroundings right. Now, one of the first things you might think about is your physical surroundings. Okay. And that's absolutely true. What surrounds you on a regular basis is going to determine what goes into your mouth is going to determine other things besides your food, it's going to determine your stress level is going to determine things like that as well. But let's just stick with food here, because that's one of the first things we start addressing and some of the next steps. So because it's one of the again, the big things that moves the needle here. So surroundings, what is around you on a regular basis, and why does that matter? So what are some of the areas we're talking about here? And physical surroundings, first of all, and then we'll go into why does that matter? And the first thing that comes to mind would be your pantry, your refrigerator? Absolutely. The foods that are right there available to you. And I'm gonna dive a little deeper. What about those places that you stashed the food? Okay, your desk drawer, your purse. Okay. And speaking from the realm of parents, your closet, right? Like we are the roasted cashews that Daddy loves that I buy him special,

Jarrod:

they disappear. They're left in the pantry, right? And so

Anita:

you have these places that you put food, okay, so if it's your, your bedside table, you know, all these different places that you've placed it that, you know, there's Cheez Its are going to call your name and that little Debbie's gonna call your name if it's there. So why is the environment so important? Because if you don't learn how to get those things out, what are you going to do? What are you going to do? Well, you'll cheat, you'll eat them, you'll eventually, and you'll feel like you're cheating. Okay, you'll feel like you're cheating. And you're kind of cheating yourself out of the things that you have. But honestly, we work on one of our big things, biggest things is working on building a life that you don't have to have cheat days, because you enjoy it so much. You don't need them anymore. Because when you set yourself up for cheat days and live in for that you're setting yourself up for failure, that's never gonna work for you. You got to have faith that feels like you're cheating. And you're mentioning the

Jarrod:

flip side of what I was thinking is that your environment would set you up for success. It should,

Anita:

absolutely so it can set you up for failure. That's a great point. But it can also set you up for success. So what we're talking about here is what's there, what's around you, you're going to eat it eat, you're going to eat it,

Jarrod:

because I don't care how much resolve you have, when you get hungry enough. If the wrong foods are there. And I'm saying this from a place of experience, you're going to be amazed at how convincing you can become that that bag of Cheetos is really a health food. It is either corn or whatever is an add. I haven't eaten a Cheeto in years, but you're going to be amazed at how well you can justify like, well, you know, this really isn't that bad for me. And then after you you'll wake up from your Cheeto comb and you got the orange mess all over you. You're probably gonna have some regret. So we know this and so

Anita:

probably you're gonna have regrets because you're gonna hurt, you're going to a cake. And you know what, there's so many other things you can enjoy just as much. You've just got to know what they are and how to get them. So that leads us to the second point, it's not just about what you need to get out. Again, we're going to be talking about this. We've got that four part episode for four part episodes. We've got that four part series workshop coming up for you. This called the power on plants. Kickstart kickstart, okay, the power plants kickstart. So look for that to come up. It's only going to be available for a few days. And it's free. It's a four part video training that's going to come straight to your inbox, your email, you cannot miss this. But we're talking about this even more in depth than we're going to hear. I'm just going to mention it briefly. But what I'm talking about is getting stuff out. But then you've got to get something back in its place. This is so important. Because if you just keep taking stuff away from yourself, I can't have this I can't have that. I can't have this. I can't have that then what's left? How's it gonna work? Your pantry is empty your refrigerators in your stomach sent into you're starving, you're hangry right? And then you just it's not gonna work because you're gonna go back then that

Jarrod:

bag of Cheetos calls you from the garbage can. Store door I'd say hasn't really touched any the garbage, it's closed bag, it would still be okay, what kind of grace and Beata were here, but I hear what you're saying. It's real life. It is really when you get hungry enough you start to or hangry hangry enough, you start thinking thoughts you might not have ever thought you think

Anita:

are you don't want anybody else to know you're thinking true confessions. So the other thing is, you know, you might get hangry enough or angry enough about it that you get in the car and you drive 1020 minutes to go get it? Because you don't know what else to do. There's no place what you know, you've got to put something else in that place, it can't stay empty. So that leads us to what happens next with your environment. You got to get the stuff out, you've got to know how to recognize it. What is it that needs to go? Why does it need to go? How can you best get it out. But then right at the same time, you got to be filling those spaces, there's got to be something there that brings you joy that you love that not only brings you joy because it tastes good. And that's easy to prepare. And that doesn't cost an arm and leg, but then it actually makes you feel great. When you start feeling you give yourself one week, two weeks, three weeks, four weeks to do this. Now you're going, I'm pretty sure I'm not touching that stuff anymore. I mean, you get to this place where your taste buds start to change, your cravings start to change. And you can't even think about another way of doing things. And I'm not telling you what have times here and there while your body's still detoxing from all the stuff that that won't happen. But you learn ways to get beyond that. So you

Jarrod:

can they will get you will get beyond that. Absolutely. I feel compelled to share a quote from Michael Hyatt right now. He had done a study looking at willpower because I feel like this is all kind of in that same vein of willpower, well, I'll just keep some stuff around, and I just won't eat it. But he did a study. And what they determined is that there really is no such thing as willpower. It was setting up your environment for success

Anita:

cheered. That's a huge mindset shift right there. I just gave something from key number one that we need to make sure we're teaching everybody that comes through our membership or that we come into contact with because we've been taught that willpower is the thing.

Jarrod:

You're just you just not strong enough. Yeah, you just gotta muster up some willpower, like no really set your environment up for success. And then it's so much easier, it becomes so much easier said you're not you may still have cravings. But if it's not there, and there's something even better, you do that. And then very soon, very quickly. I mean, within a few days, few weeks, you're going to be craving those new things you do

Anita:

you start craving that and those are the things you want. You think that is so weird, I'm craving this food or that food that I know is healthy for me that I wouldn't even thought about eating on a regular basis before. And now your body's saying he gave me some that I'm starting to get better give me more. And it physically happens with your body that way. So these surroundings The first thing is your physical environment. Now, I'm not I haven't even gotten into things like the path you take to work. You know, there's a lot of things like that that are in your environment too. And we go into that more in more detail with our members. But these are the things you got to recognize what is sabotaging my health? I've got to get it out. How do I how do I do that? How to do that in a way that works for me. What do I need to get back in its place? First, you got to realize you need to get something back in its place. Otherwise, it's not gonna work and then that's something it's got to taste good or I'm just serious. Like I'm not gonna touch that with a 10 foot pole. If it tastes bad, I don't I don't want bad food. I like food. I grew up in a restaurant I grew up with parents who you know that we always ate good tasting food. It wasn't always the best thing for us. We thought it was because we were cooking at home a but you know, these are the things you got to get those right foods in there.

Jarrod:

I'm smiling. I'm sitting here thinking, I've known Anita for 32 years we've been married 28 years. But we knew each other for a few years before that we met in college over college sweethearts. That's really good. Oh, man. Yes. But what I'm thinking is I can attest and vouch that what she is saying is 100%. True. She loves great tasting food.

Anita:

I'm all about it. But you know, a lot of it's lost its hold on me those things that I

Jarrod:

didn't love you back, though. God, they have no, no, no, they have no drop to them anymore.

Anita:

None. It's beautiful food freedom. I love it. So those are the surroundings. But what else is in surroundings? What else do you need to understand? The people, the people, let's talk about the people. I mean, this is the same in business or in anything in life, I don't just want you thinking right now about when we talk about this, just about food or your health, I want you to start thinking about other areas of your life, because like for us when we got into business, and we started surrounding ourselves with new friends who are also in business, who are also building a life in which they can share what their passion is with others. So they can be world changers. You get around those types of people on a regular basis, and your whole life is gonna change, but things that how far you would go, the things you can accomplish, the amount of time it's going to take you to get there suddenly becomes so much shorter. Just because you're around those people, you're getting these ideas, you're getting the inspiration, your

Jarrod:

dreams can even become bigger, because you were thinking small, but then you start thinking, wow, I could actually do this.

Anita:

Yes. And the accountability is there. Yeah. So now you've got somebody holding you accountable and cheering you on because they believe in the same things, they're on that same path, they're doing the same things community is huge. Maybe you don't have a lot of people around you right now that would support you in a whole food plant based natural healing lifestyle. That's okay, you find a group that's going to do that, and you get in those groups, you get around those people. And that's going to change everything for you. Because you're going to start talking and encouraging each other just like we found in our business. That's what happens when you start living life and you surround yourself with the people there that are going to walk that path with you. They're also heading in the same direction, you'll get there so much farther, so much faster when you go together, right? I mean, it just happens. That's just what happens in life, you're going to work, you're going to stare each other to learn, you know, I have friends that I get on the phone with and I get off the phone, and I'm powered up, I'm like, I want to go to 100 podcast episodes, and I'm going to write 20 million blog posts. And then I'm going to, you know, whatever it is, I've got all these things that I'm going to do just because of the inspiration of being around that person.

Jarrod:

I love it when you talk to those individuals too. But sometimes I do get scared something. I don't know if I can keep up with her. She's on fire.

Anita:

No, it's so true. And that's what happens in life. You keep learning, they inspire you to learn and to grow. And if you keep learning, I mean, that's like the same thing with business. The same thing with our help Jared and I are still learning and growing. Look, I you get around this and you think, Oh, they know what they're doing. They've been doing this forever. Let me tell you, some of them. We know a lot. And we figured out a lot that we can help people with. But I'm still on this journey to Jared still on this journey to I'm still coming up with new recipes and ways to make things you know, the other day, I didn't realize how much I missed a barbecue sandwich. I missed a barbecue sandwich so much. And I started thinking about it. And I saw this one idea online, somebody did pulled a carrot barbecue. I didn't like the ingredients they put in it and y'all looked at it and it wouldn't be good. I thought I'm coming up with the recipe for that gun in the kitchen came up with that. Now I'm in the process of developing the recipe to go in the cookbook. So the next version of the cookbook, or it may be a totally separate cookbook. But these are the recipes that I put into the membership. So our members are going to get these recipes right away. They don't have to wait for the cookbook. But the whole point behind this story is I love being able to share this stuff. This is the journey I'm on. We're on this journey with you. We may be at a different point, always learning something new always. And I'm so excited. It lights me up to share this because I made that I put that on a piece of bread. And I bid into that and I'm telling you it was like pure D heaven. I mean, I was back in barbecue land without the bad feelings I got without the crash and burn I got from the way I ate it before. So I'm still enjoying those same foods. But I'm enjoying them in a new way. I'm starting to get into the next flavors and we're going to talk about that that's that's the next step is the fate and we're going to talk about that in the next podcast episode. You got to hang around and not miss that. So you may be telling yourself you know, the people, the people I'm surrounded with nobody's going to support that my husband zombie behind me you know, it's going to be hard because of that. You start telling yourself in your mind your mindset that it's going to be hard I can't do it. You can come up with a bazillion reasons why not to but what you need is to start making a list of to get your mindset right. Why do I want to do this? What do I want in my life? What is going to be different? In your life, when you get your mindset, right, okay, you accomplish, yeah, because people around, you can only hold you back. If you allow them to hold you back, you're an adult, you get to decide, right? They might make it a little harder for you. But it's gonna be a whole lot easier if you can get around those people and start building that supportive community around you of people who are going to cheer you on people who can show you what to do. And just make the whole journey so much easier and so much quicker. You

Jarrod:

might even be a trailblazer. For those people that that are around you that aren't necessarily on board. They start at seven Yeah. And you start seeing the changes, they see the food, maybe test it like what do you have, huh? Okay, this is called carrot barbecue. That sounded kind of gross, but I'll try a little nibble what? That was pretty good.

Anita:

Well, I'm the next thing you know. And this happens all the time. It happened to us the other day, we took something over to some ice house and like what they start asking you what what's what exactly is in this, they take a bite, they take another bite. Next thing, you know, they're on their second or third bowl, and you're going to love this, I love this way of living, because you know, they're going to feel better after they eat it, they've been a kind enough friend to try it like supporting you. And before you know it, they're enjoying it, because the flavors are there. And you think to yourself, I think to myself, I'm sitting there thinking they're gonna feel so great. Tomorrow, when they wake up versus compared to you know, you're not going to get your whole lifestyle changed, right, then it's not going to reverse everything. But they're going to not have that food hangover, that they would have had the same thing a different way.

Jarrod:

In this example, that person actually admitted that 30 minutes after the meal, when they would normally start to have kind of that slump. They

Anita:

didn't, I didn't even hear that. But I love hearing that that just lights me up. You know how that lights me up. And this is the kind of thing we want for you. And this is the kind of thing that is possible. Do not lose hope. Do not tell yourself and get your mindset psyched out. Because that's going to stop you right there, you'll your will be stuck at step one. With the wrong mindset of I can never do this because fill in the blank. Because my family's not supportive. Because I've tried all this stuff before and it didn't work. I mean, you can tell yourself that or you can make the list of all the reasons why you're going to do it. All the reasons why it will work. Because now you know more than you know, if you've listened to those past podcast episodes, it's not just about recipes, recipes are never going to do it for you. It's about so much more than that. You need a system that's easy to work that's going to work for you and keep working for you over and over again. That's gonna light you up, make you feel amazing and blow those doors of possibility wide open for you. That's what we know is possible. And that is why we're in your corner and we're sharing all these things and we made this our life's mission. This is our heart, we're cheering you on. You can do this, there is hope. Make sure before you go to drop or Aviva live. Let us know why you love the podcast. One thing that you've taken from it, how it's changed your life and be sure to share it with at least two other people just let them know because they need to know they're out there loss. They don't know what to do. It's like us like we shared in Episode 119 We're, we were lost. We didn't know what to do and there are answers. There is hope. You can get your mindset right. You can get your surroundings right. And then you can move on to step number three, which we're going to share with you on the next episode. I can't wait to see you there. I know cheers. Excited to see you too. And we look forward to hanging out with you then
