Think about this question that we were just discussing what food tastes better to you than feeling good feels? What food or maybe it's foods taste better to you than feeling good feels? This is a pivotal question and that's what we're diving into today, because this can take you to the next level in your health. Let's talk about it.

We, too, tried exercising more, eating natural and clean foods, but we still found ourselves struggling with what we thought were changes that come with age or bad genes, and we weren't finding answers the traditional route. So we dug into the research and created our secret nutritional weapon sustainable plant-based living. The truth is, you can eat more whole plant foods, and it's not hard. Welcome to this episode of the podcast. We are excited to have you here joining us today. We have a very important question that we would love to discuss with you. Recently, we went for a 31st wedding anniversary celebration. We went to a little seaside area close to where we live and I'm not sure if that's considered a staycation or not. I've always heard of staycations being you stay home. I'll be honest in my experiences with staycations, they're not very awesome.

Speaker 2:

Not very staycation-y, not very staycation-y, vacation-y. They're not very relaxing, but you know, I've had instances where you had the time off from work. If you didn't use it, you lose it. So I did it, but we stayed in our own home city, stayed in a beachside condo and just really enjoyed it.

Speaker 1:

It was so much fun, you've got to do it.

Speaker 1:

If you haven't done, that find a place to stay close to home. But don't stay home, get away, because that change of scenery and the change of atmosphere will get you to thinking about things. You don't stay home, Get away, because that change of scenery and the change of atmosphere will get you to thinking about things you don't normally think about. You'll get creative in whatever spaces you're working in or you're crafting in or you're serving in and ministry or your business. I mean it's huge, for if you have a business because you start having all these amazing ideas when you get out of your normal routine and get into nature, that was a huge part for us.

Speaker 2:

We love that aspect, but I think getting away from home it gives you permission to not think about home, because when you're home you think of all the projects or chores, things that you need to do, need to get done.

Speaker 1:

Right.

Speaker 2:

But if you're away from there, you can't do it. So it really gives you permission, it frees your mind of all that other stuff and then you can think more clearly, more creatively, and that's exactly what we just experienced. So we had a great time.

Speaker 1:

I think you hear God better too, don't you Like if God's trying to tell you something? I think, if you can get out of that space, and have some quiet the distractions. That's it.

Speaker 2:

But as we were walking around, we were enjoying it, and I had a I don't know revelation or I don't know what you would quite call it, but there was a marketplace in that area and there was a few restaurants and there were some familiar smells, things we don't eat anymore, but things we used to eat in the past and had those familiar smells. And I just thought you know, there's nothing about that that tastes better than feeling good feels, just like you said in the intro for today's episode.

Speaker 1:

I know when he says that and I look over and I think what he says it out loud, he's not just thinking it in his mind, he actually says this out loud. Anita, what tastes better than feeling good feels? And then we went on to talk about what we're going to share with you today, how so many of us get used to eating these things so we feel like, oh, I've got to have it, especially if they have some chemical hold on us, like cheese and dairy can, because we know that those things have proteins in there that are made to bring the baby calf back to the cow. So it works on our brains in much the same way, almost like morphine, and so it hits those receptors, drawing us back. And so now that food has a physical hold on us.

Speaker 1:

So if you're like I was before cheese lost its hold on me, that would have been cheese. Cheese tastes better to me than good felt, because I didn't think about how it was holding me back or how I would feel so much better if I didn't eat it. I was just thinking I got to have cheese, like, what can we have tonight that has cheese on it? What can we have today that has cheese on it, and if it wasn't cheese, it was sour cream, it was yogurt, it was milk.

Speaker 2:

But those choices were reinforced by it's good for you, it has calcium, it has protein, it has things that you need.

Speaker 1:

Yes, the marketing messages are so crafty, so clever, and that is for a reason.

Speaker 2:

But in that context I was thinking too. I've heard many patients say oh, I can never give up meat.

Speaker 1:

I can never do that. I can never give up steak.

Speaker 2:

And I thought does that meat, does that steak? And that's what we were smelling barbecue, and you could smell the exhaust from the kitchen wafting through the air. And I thought does that taste better than having the energy not aching, not having stiffness? Does that steak taste better than feeling awesome, feels?

Speaker 1:

And you could substitute anything in here.

Speaker 2:

Like we have a daughter who never cared for meat.

Speaker 1:

Even when we didn't eat meat, she just never cared for it. She liked other things. So it wouldn't have been steak for her. It might have been cheese, like it was for her mom, or it might be sugars.

Speaker 1:

Maybe you have a sweet tooth and you just love sugar and you think, oh, if I do that thing, I can never have sugar. If I go all in, I'll have to give up all sugar. We have people tell us this all the time about sugar and it's a oh yeah. My husband's problem is he just eats sweets. You know, or he would be so healthy if he just never ate sweets again, or I just couldn't give up sweets.

Speaker 1:

There's that thing again. It's that that's the thing for them that tastes better than they think good would feel. Or maybe we just don't even think about it because our enemy is so clever and gets us stuck on these foods and into these routines, and we all have a common enemy, right? So I want you to ask yourself what has? Because, really, when you think about it and identify these foods that you know are not for your best, but you haven't tried to come off of them, or you've come off of them before and you know how great you feel. But you've gone back to them. You have to start saying how does it have such a hold on me? How have I allowed it to continue having this hold on me? These things can become like idols in our lives. These things can become like idols in our lives.

Speaker 2:

And one other question, too, to what you were just mentioning a moment ago, is if you tell yourself I could never live without this thing, then to your point of, has this become like an idol? Because there's nothing that I eat that I feel like I could never live without. I enjoy these foods, and thankfully these are the foods that the Father has put on the earth to fuel us well, and to fuel our bodies for his service, but there's not a single food that I ever have felt like, since we've gone plant-based that I couldn't live without.

Speaker 1:

Right, because these foods just don't get a hold on you. You're not thinking about what you're going to eat 24-7, once you know how to eat whole food, plant-based in the way that's simple, enjoyable and delicious. But what are those things that we know cause inflammation, cause disease, cause harm to the body, make you feel exhausted all the time, like you have no energy, you're zapped. You just want to feel better. You're tired of going to doctor's offices for this thing and that thing and it's taking up all your time and energy, of going to doctor's offices for this thing and that thing and it's taking up all your time and energy. These are the foods that we know can cause the inflammation and the disease that we are convinced somehow that are related to old age or bad genes. But that's just not true. You've got to learn to let those mindsets go.

Speaker 2:

That is further deception.

Speaker 1:

It's deception and it's all by plan of your enemy. So what we want to share with you is some of the foods that we know hold people back and that, by research, we know, when people stop eating these things, they actually gain their health back. Our dairy, for me, again, that was cheese, it was milk, it was sour cream, it was mayo that had dairy in it, ice cream, all these things.

Speaker 2:

And I will say the fermented dairy foods. Even though they're fermented, that doesn't impart some magical health benefit to them. They will still have the saturated fats, they will still have the hormones in them. So don't be deceived by oh, but this is fermented. So, if it's yogurt, kefir, if it's creme fraiche or any of these others, it doesn't matter. It's still a dairy product and it still has these negative health consequences.

Speaker 1:

Well, you're getting all the hormones and all these other things that are in there that we know just are not good for you and that stir up inflammation. I'm not going to go into all that, we don't have time today, but I want you to know these things.

Speaker 1:

Their hold on you can be broken. Dairy I was a dairy queen. Meat, like Jared was talking about. Does this steak taste better to me than feeling good feels? Does cheese taste better to me than feeling good feels? Do eggs do?

Speaker 1:

Pressed out oils is it more important for me to have added oils and be able to glug that over my food and into my sauce pan and tell myself somehow that it's healthy? Is that more important to me than feeling good feels? Highly refined sugars these are the bad carbs. Yes, not all carbs are bad for you. Your body was actually created to run on carbs, right. Highly refined sugars large amounts of salt Do these things, or which of these things, to you, because it may be different for all of us which of these things tastes better to you than feeling good feels?

Speaker 1:

What is holding you back? What has that hold on you? What we were just saying is these things can become idols in your life, so if you feel like you couldn't possibly live without eating that thing that's what Jared was talking about then it's important to think about the hold it has on you. Freedom is on the other side. That's what we want to tell you today. Freedom is on the other side.

Speaker 1:

I can promise you feeling good feels better than eating any of those things feel, and one of the big reasons is because you can find your new favorites. You can still have meaty things and cheesy things and sweets. Yes, you can still enjoy sweets. You don't have to deprive yourself eating this way. We've done it for years, we've helped our clients do it for years and our patients and we see them consistently reversing the most common chronic diseases of our time that they were told they were going to have for life. One of Jared's most recent patients she was taking insulin daily for type 2 diabetes. She was told and led to believe she would have it forever. However, within just a short amount of time of implementing the things that we teach, she was able, through his counsel, through his coaching and his help, to stop requiring insulin. Her body no longer requires it.

Speaker 2:

She just didn't need it anymore.

Speaker 1:

So what does that mean? She no longer has type 2 diabetes. We help people to reverse, on a consistent basis, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity. We together lost over 70 pounds without even trying, because we found the way that works. It works consistently time and again when you have a system to get your mindset right so that these foods no longer have a hold on you, so that they no longer taste better than feeling good feels, because you start feeling good and you realize how great that is, because now you're going and doing all the things you want to do. You're getting out into nature, you're enjoying your time with your family. You're serving and doing ministry like you've always wanted to do. You have that desire to build a business, but now you actually can. Now you're doing it. Now you're actually putting the steps into place to start that podcast to help people that you've always wanted to begin or start. You have the ideas of traveling and going on vacation and doing all these amazing things serving people. You didn't even feel like staying awake or holding your eyes open past noon and now you're having to force yourself to go to bed at night because you have so much energy and feel so good.

Speaker 1:

I can promise you, on this side of things, it always feels better to feel better than to eat those foods. It is better to feel better, it is better to be able to live the life you were created to live. But somehow the enemy convinces us and pulls us into bondage to these foods that we think we then have to have them. Sometimes we get physically addicted. We shared about that in the beginning. Sometimes it's just that we think we need it because marketing messages like Jared said oh well, you need this milk, it does your body good, meat, it's what's for dinner, all these different things we think we need it. And then, when we start getting conscious of the fact that they're not healthy, the media comes and says oh well, this one's not as healthy, but this type of meat, that's healthier for you, right, or is it really?

Speaker 2:

that bad for you. But sometimes, like you're saying, you may not know the hold that it has on you, because you're eating it regularly, because you think you need it. But once you realize you don't need it, then it may become evident that it has a hold, and that's where you need to break through to the other side.

Speaker 1:

And we're here to tell you this because we're on the other side. We have clients and patients who are on the other side, consistently staying there, because they now know how to make this enjoyable. They love the lifestyle and they keep coming back to it, day after day, because no longer do those things have the hold. The enemy's lost his hold in that area, and so now they're eating the foods that their bodies were originally created to thrive on, according to Genesis 129. We said this before the closer you get back to the garden in any area of your life, the better you are going to do. It's just how it works.

Speaker 1:

Our enemy does not want you to feel good. He does not want you to be well, because you have a plan and a purpose. Here in this world. There are things that God has created for you to do, and in order to do those things, you need to be able to break free from the things that you think you have to have, that are holding you back, that are causing you to be inflamed and exhausted and not feel good. So, through living this amazing way of life, jared and I have come up with a system that worked for us. It's backed by research and it works for our clients and patients time and time again.

Speaker 1:

But once you know the simple way to walk through these things like getting your mindset right and getting those old myths out that you believe for far too long, that have held you back Then you can break free and get your environment right, the people, places and things around you, and we have specific steps that we can walk you through to be able to do that. Then you've got to make the food taste good. You've got to know how to make the new things, the things your body was created to thrive on, taste amazing. There are ways you can do that and we'll teach you exactly how to do that the strategies, the tips for making it taste good, for saving time, making it rapid or quick and making it very simple so that it's realistic with your busy schedule. That is the path to success.

Speaker 1:

This is what we're going to dive deep into into our course in a very simple way that is not hard to implement but that will get you results and help you to break free from these things that are holding you back. So ask yourself today this is step number one for you. Today Just do this one thing, just this one thing. Ask yourself than feeling good feels. What is it that I'm eating that is worth me spending all my time in the doctor's office dealing with all the side effects of the medications? I'm on not feeling like running around with my grandchildren and playing with them, not being able to be here fully in my right mind as I age to be able to plant the seeds I need to plant into the next generation, not being able to go into the mission field that God has called me into. I'm just not talking about overseas.

Speaker 2:

Like you, have a mission field. Your mission field is six feet around you Anybody that is in your proximity.

Speaker 1:

Absolutely. And so what tastes better to you than living the calling that you have on your life, than being able to fully enjoy the life that you've been given to live? Because I can promise you, when those things lose their hold and you start finding your new favorites and recalling your old favorites that made you feel good that you've forgotten about, go back and listen to the past episode. It's super, super important that you listen to that episode, because we share with you about finding your new favorites and rediscovering your old ones. You don't want to miss that one. It is key. And then we want you to keep thinking about and maybe journal and jot down some notes on.

Speaker 1:

This is the thing, this is the food that has the hold on me, that I've allowed the enemy to come in and say, hey, you need this, it's good for you, it is for your good. When, if that thing would lose its hold on you and you could find ways to replace it that were simple and enjoyable and tasted great, you wouldn't miss it. But it lost its hold. And now your body's feeling good and you're thriving and you have energy and you can do all those things you were created to do, you were born to do and you've been sick of sitting on the sidelines feeling like you're watching all these amazing opportunities to build friendships and to serve, pass you by and to just fully live your life. That doesn't have to be your story anymore, but the first key is identifying what are those things specific for you? It may not be the same thing for this person or that person. What is it for you?

Speaker 1:

And some of the areas to consider when it comes to food are meat, dairy, eggs, oils, refined sugars which are like white sugars and highly refined carbohydrates not whole plant foods and large amounts of added salt, and you won't believe how much you're eating. That. You don't even know when you start turning that puppy over and reading the ingredients list. It's in everything. The oils, they're in most everything. Salt is added to almost everything. Would you believe that dairy may be living in your non-dairy creamer? I'm just going to throw that out there for you.

Speaker 1:

This is how sneaky the enemy is to get us to eat these things. Why are they being snuck in there? Why are all these other artificial ingredients being snuck in there that we think are healthy? Citric acid oh, that sounds healthy. Oh, it's just citrus. No, it's not. No, it's not. These are the types of things we're going to teach you about that you need to know Identify. Where am I being held back? What is that thing that I'm saying to myself? I can't live without that. I could never live without that. I can never stop eating that. Maybe it's just I could never eat just rabbit foods.

Speaker 1:

Maybe you have a wrong mindset about the foods that you're going to be eating. You consider them rabbit foods or grass. There's so much more to healthy plant-based. I'm telling you. It is going to expand your options. When we go through this course, it is going to blow your mind All the options that you have that you never had before. You're living restricted. Now. If you're not whole food plant-based Now, if you have not realized the way to expand whole food plant-based beyond chili and beyond salads, you do not have to live restricted and feeling like you're somehow missing out. If there's something you love before I can show you how to find a substitute You're going to like just as much or even better, and then you get to the point where they lose their whole, so much you don't even have to have the substitutes anymore. You've got new things, all these new things to eat and try that you didn't even know were possible. They weren't on your radar. You did not even know these things existed. It took us 10 plus years to figure out that these things existed and how to pull them together and how to make them taste good and what ingredients to sub in.

Speaker 1:

It doesn't have to take you that long. We've already walked this journey. We know the path. We know the way it's helped us. It helps others all the path. We know the way it's helped us. It helps others all the time. This is why we're here for you, week after week, getting you started, giving you those things to help you gain momentum.

Take this tip and start moving forward. Figure out what are those things that are holding you back, that have a hold on you. Release them.
