It is such a breeze to create a tasty batch right in your own kitchen, Whether you spread it on a collard wrap or dip fresh veggies into it, or use it as a dressing or a sauce base, or simply enjoy it by the spoonful might be my favorite way.

There's something exciting about opening your fridge and seeing a container of fresh, ready-to-eat fruit just waiting for you, Whether it's juicy pineapple, sweet grapes, crisp apples or a combo of berries. Having fruit prepared and ready to eat makes healthy snacking a no-brainer, and it sets you up for natural and enjoyable weight loss success.

Speaker 2:

And here's my tip Take just a few minutes after your grocery run to wash, chop and store your favorite fruits in clear containers. I prefer the glass ones. Not only does this make them more appealing, but you'll be amazed at how much more likely you are to reach for them because you can see them when hunger strikes. Think of fruit as your perfect fast food, because it's quick and delicious and hydrating, and also packed with vitamins, minerals and fiber. This one is even a flavorful showstopper for summer get togethers or cookouts, because it's light and refreshing and it's full of flavor, which is perfect for the hot days when you want something hydrating as well as satisfying. Here's what goes into it A little orange zest and freshly squeezed orange juice, a touch of lime zest and some lime juice, a sprinkle of Himalayan pink salt and then the stars of the show eight cups of juicy, cubed watermelon and one crisp jicama cut into matchstick shapes. Top it all off with a quarter cup of fresh mint leaves, roughly chopped, Mix it together and there you have it a colorful, thirst-quenching salad that never gets soggy and is sure to become a family favorite. If you'd like to have the written step-by-step directions, you'll find those in our original cookbook at poweronplantscom forward slash cookbook.

Okay, this next one might surprise you, because you've probably heard that carbs are the enemy when it comes to weight loss. But here's the truth your body was created to run on healthy, whole food, plant-based carbs. If you're restricting them, you're not going to feel full or satisfied, and that's no way to live or to get lasting weight loss. So one of our absolute favorite snacks is a simple baked sweet potato, because not only do they help naturally curb your sweet cravings, but they're also very filling and satisfying. You can even bake a few sweet potatoes ahead of time, and when you're ready for a snack, just sprinkle on some pumpkin pie, spice or cinnamon. That's it. And don't stop at the traditional orange ones. Try purple or white sweet potatoes too. They're all delicious, and each variety is packed with nutrients like beta carotene, vitamin C, potassium and fiber. This is a snack that will keep you happy, full and energized on your weight loss journey.

Speaker 2:

Last but definitely not least, build yourself a bowl of mixed raw veggies, whatever you love or have on hand. Try them in various shapes too. You could dice them into cubes or even make bowls full of spiralized veggies with them. Now here's where the real happiness happens. I want you to top that big bowl of fresh veggies with my favorite, super easy three ingredient balsamic dressing. All you need is balsamic vinegar, a bit of tasty brown mustard and some freshly minced garlic or garlic powder. Give these three ingredients a good mix together and then pour that dressing right over your veggies. This one makes my taste buds so happy. And if you want to take this simple snack up another notch, add a sprinkle of Italian seasoning or my personal favorite pizza seasoning to it. Then make it even more stick to your ribs by tossing in a few drained chickpeas. It's satisfying, guilt-free and the best part, you can enjoy it by the bowl full.
