A successful entrepreneur recently told us, "I just need to get my eating under control."

After nearly five decades in healthcare, we know exactly where that belief comes from. And we know it is a lie straight from the enemy.

You have been set up. The foods you were trusting to fuel your calling have been physically working against your body this entire time. Yes, with even the “clean ones” leaving you hungry, unsatisfied, and blaming yourself for something that was never your fault.

In this episode Jarrod and Anita reveal exactly why your body cannot feel full on certain foods no matter how much you eat, and how whole plant foods can fix that at the root, including how to naturally trigger your own GLP-1 response every single meal. The same response people are paying hundreds of dollars a month in hopes of lasting results, that comes with the side effects nobody warned them about.

God already designed your body to produce what it needs. He already gave you the food to trigger it.

This episode will change how you see your hunger, your body, and your God-given capacity to fully show up for everything He has called you to do.

Jarrod

A moment ago, you were talking about keeping up with your list of symptoms. And I had the thought, as a child, when you would ask the child, what do you want to do when you grow up? I want to be a policeman, I want to be a nurse, I want to be an astronaut. I'm pretty sure no child has ever said, I want to keep up with my pills and I want to manage my symptoms. I mean, as an eight, nine, 10-year-old, did you ever think, I want to be a managed sick person?

Ditching Restriction And Finding Joy

Anita

No, your dreams were so much larger than that. It makes me sick in the pit of my stomach to think about though, that's what we've been reduced to. I'm a managed sick person. So you're going to your healthcare provider, and a lot of times that's what you're being offered. That's what I was being offered when I was at my sickest, at my lowest. And we're healthcare professionals and we're going and we're just getting these, we can manage it this way, manage it that way, or we can take care of this problem, no worries. And it's always some type of medication or procedure or something that doesn't get to the root cause. You've landed in the place where we're about root cause resolution. We're getting to the very base of the problem, which is addressing and attacking inflammation. We have to get rid of the chronic inflammation, acute inflammation. Jared's talked about it recently, is good. It's a good thing.

Jarrod

Our body part of our healing response.

Anita

Right. Our body needs to have that. But we were never ever meant to be living every day with our body chronically inflamed. So once you can get to that root cause that is rarely ever addressed in the mainstream, what we know and what we see time and time again is these foods, whole plant foods, attack that inflammation at their root, cutting it down, chopping it down. So it's no longer effective at holding you back from fully living your God-given dreams. But what we want to talk about today, and Jared and I were discussing this, why is it that what we often think we're kind of programmed by society to think we have to be restrictive with our foods, that somehow there's not really a way to feel satisfied with what we're eating if we want to get health? We're gonna have to in some way restrict either our portions or our calories. In other words, there's no way if I go on this thing or start doing this thing to heal, that I'm going to be satisfied. I'm going to be excited about how I'm eating and how I'm living, that I'm going to feel joy about having a family meal or dining out with those I love and care about. And it just is should be the way. I think I'm just smiling, thinking about having joy and excitement in the way that we're living should be the thing that we're experiencing on a regular basis. But we've been brainwashed through the media, through marketing, through the gurus that are out there that you have to restrict this or restrict that or restrict this. If you don't restrict, there's no way it's possibly gonna work. Like there's no way that you could do this that you're gonna enjoy and be excited about. So you no longer dream of cheat days. You're actually never feeling deprived with the food that's on your plate, with the meals, the snacks, the drinks, and the desserts. Yes, I'm saying desserts because we eat desserts and they don't harm us. We just have them in the upgraded way that power fuels our body for maximum impact in this world. What we love helping you do is to break through the mindset that this has to be difficult or that you're never going to feel satisfied if you want to get healthy. You're gonna have to adopt a way of living that you absolutely hate. That's just not true. A way of living that's gonna leave you feeling hungry, it's not true.

Jarrod

We know the irony in that statement, though, is back in the day when we ate the standard American diet, there were many times whenever I stuffed myself full and I still didn't feel satisfied.

Anita

Have you ever gone to a fast food restaurant, ordered something like a whole meal, and thought, you know, I want another one?

Jarrod

And you even biggie sized it. We did it.

Anita

We totally both of us did it. I mean, I honestly can go back to that day and feel what it was like and think, I'm just a glutton. I just don't have willpower. I need to have more discipline, and all those things are lies. The foods are the setup. You are not the problem. You've been trained to believe you have a gluttony problem, you have a willpower problem, you have a discipline problem. A high-level entrepreneur recently talked about this. His exact words were, I have a discipline problem. I got to get myself under control. And it's just a lie of the enemy. It's not a willpower, it's not a discipline problem. It's a problem with the foods. Those foods leave you feeling hungry because they leave your body crying out for the nutrients that they never have received and crying out and saying, please stop giving me these things that are causing me problems. So again, it's that one-two punch of quit giving me junk. Yeah, quit giving me the junk. It's a one-two punch of the thing of eating the things you don't even realize it at times. We were clean eating, we were eating cage free, organic, all the things that we thought were going to heal our bodies. And that's when we hit our sickest. That's when we were the worst off.

Jarrod

And we made some of those changes to try to feel better and it didn't work. It didn't make any difference. We still kept spiraling down.

Anita

But when you're eating the foods, so we're saying to you, whole plant foods are the answer. Now I need a how could I possibly eat rapid food? How can I eat salad for the rest of my life? Don't worry about that.

Jarrod

We're gonna you're gonna eat it and you're gonna love it. I promise you.

You Can Love Familiar Foods

Anita

But it's not just the salad, you'll love the salads. But if you like lasagna pizza, tacos, burgers, shepherd's pie, I'm trying to think of other things that we ate on the regular before. Like I grew up in a barbecue restaurant. I love barbecue.

Jarrod

Casserole. Yes, potato, southern potato salad.

Anita

Barbecue that I grew up on. I know how to replicate these things now and we show you how to do the same because when you know how to do that in a way that's super simple with things that aren't weird and don't have a hundred million ingredients, it works with your busy schedule and it powers you. Most importantly, it powers your body to shift from being your biggest hindrance in your business and your life to finally fully showing up to being your number one energized asset. What is that going to change for you? And what if you could do that in the way that you didn't have to worry about willpower or discipline anymore? It was off the table as far as how you eat because these foods are naturally the lowest calorie foods on the planet. But more importantly, with this episode, they're the foods that leave you satisfied and feeling hungry. Satisfied. Imagine eating something you love so much and you were so satisfied that even though you wanted more, you wouldn't even think of getting up to go get more because you actually feel full and satisfied. That's the reality of eating this way. You do not have to restrict your calories, you do not have to restrict your portions. Those are man-made ways that leave you exhausted. Yeshua said, My yoke is easy. My burden is like when you get into a way of doing something or fixing a problem that leaves you exhausted, that leaves you unsatisfied, it's never gonna last, that leaves you of dreaming of your next meal before this meal's over. It's never gonna last. But these foods don't do that to your body. And you don't have to do that to your body anymore. Stop doing that. If dieting methods have not worked before, it's not gonna work now. And it's certainly not gonna work when applied to whole plant foods. But the beauty is you can drop the dieting methods and never have to pick them up again once you understand how to harness the power of whole plant foods.

Jarrod

Before we get started into the reasons, I want to leave you with the contrast here. I would eat those biggie meals. I would eat two of them burgers, fries, the drinks, and all that. My stomach would be absolutely full, but my body was still crying out saying, I'm hungry, feed me. If you follow the whole food plant-based way of eating, that will never happen. Now I stop eating because I'm no longer hungry and I'm in a situation where I could still eat more, but I don't desire more. I feel satisfied.

Anita

That's it. Because I feel satisfied.

Full Without Counting Or Willpower

Jarrod

I don't feel the need to keep stuffing myself until I'm full. So, reason number one water. Whole plant foods have a high, high volume of water, anywhere from 75 to 90%. And water equals volume. Now, why is that important, Anita?

Anita

Well, we've talked about this before, how a lot of times you feel hungry because you're thirsty. A lot of us are walking around totally dehydrated.

Jarrod

Chronically dehydrated.

Anita

And these foods by nature just have more water, is what Jared's saying. So you're already getting a lot of water intake just by eating the foods. So as you eat them, you're feeling fuller naturally because the volume is filling up in your stomach with the water. It signals I'm full.

Jarrod

Now, on the flip side, when we eat an overly processed diet, especially if it's a lot of dried foods, like I don't know, eating a lot of Doritos or something, has no water in it. So now that takes fluid from your body to digest because it takes water to digest your food.

Anita

But I want to think about this too, because we were, again, clean eating. We weren't eating the Doritos and all the stuff. We had dropped a lot of that. So we were eating the clean, grass-fed beef that we bought from the farm. Those foods, steak. So you think about steak, you might have been sneaking the demonic.

Jarrod

No, no, there was a time we were for a short while getting the organic Doritos before we completely cut them out.

Water Content Creates Natural Fullness

Anita

Right. But even after we cut them out, I'm thinking, well, thanks for your honesty. And then that's true. There was a time where we thought organic Doritos were better. But then when you're at the point, maybe you're not even eating those now, is what I'm trying to say. So if you're the person who's not eating those, you're just eating the grass-fed beef, you still have to understand that once you've cooked that meat, and even before you cook it, it just by nature does not have the water content. You're never gonna do that. And these foods, we talked about this on a previous episode, but you think about making beans, and this may go into another reason why you feel satisfied. But when you're making beans or things like that, these foods, you buy them and they expand. So it decreases your cost, but it also increases the volume in your stomach. So you're buying foods that expand and not shrink. You could put a steak on the grill, it hits the grill, it shrinks up. So now the water that was in it is gone. I'm not telling you to eat raw steak. Please don't misunderstand me. Like it's it's not a water-filled food.

Jarrod

It's not how we're not saying life-giving food.

Anita

But think about how these are the foods that shrink up and have no life in them and don't have the water capacity or the bulk. And then we're gonna go to something else in just a minute, which is the fiber. But one of the things here, we just want you to think about the water content. And now let's move into the fiber.

Fiber, Stretch Receptors, And Satiety

Jarrod

But the water does create volume in your stomach as well as hydration. Because sometimes you may be thirsty, but your your brain misinterprets those signals as hunger, and now you're eating more when really you just needed a big glass of water. Exactly. But yes, with point number two, the fiber. Fiber creates fullness because it creates bulk in your stomach and your digestive tract. You have stretch receptors in your stomach. So that way, when it gets to a certain volume, it signals the brain, hey, we've got enough food in here now. When you eat animal-based foods, highly processed foods, foods that have a lot of oils, a very high calorie content, you can fill up with a lot of calories before you fill your stomach up completely. Whereas with plant-based foods, having the fiber, it's much lower calorie content. And we've talked about the benefits of that previously, even on our last episode, 383. But with the fiber, it stays there longer because we don't digest them. We do digest things like the starches, but there are a lot of fibers that we just don't digest. They pass through us now, they become food for the good gut bacteria, and it serves a function. But part of that is it creates the bulk, it creates that satisfaction.

Anita

Keeps you from feeling hungry naturally without having to starve yourself or keep up with numbers. Think about what your life is going to be like. If you could drop weight, if you could have inflammation vanish, if you could no longer dream of cheat days, if you could have your diagnosis that are starting to pile up decrease where you could come off some of the meds and the side effects they're causing just by eating these foods that fill you up and leave you feeling satisfied. It's a no-brainer.

Protein Myths And Plant Power

Jarrod

It's a beautiful thing. That's the life we're living every day. And that is why we get on here week after week and share with you so that you can have that also. All right, reason number three. This may shock you, Anita. Are you ready?

Anita

I'm ready.

Jarrod

Protein.

Anita

Okay, you're gonna light me up just with that one word. Like it's a trigger word. It's a trigger word, and I'm gonna tell you why. Yeah, the sirens are going off. The flashing lights. Okay, are you old enough to remember Kmart? The blue light special. Yeah, the lights are going off. That's terrible. I just dated myself.

Jarrod

I think I only ever went to Kmart once or twice, but I do remember the blue lights going off. The blue light specials.

Anita

Proteins are the blue light special for me. They light me up. Why? Because plant foods are filled with them. If you eat only whole plant foods 100%, you're going to get more than two times the protein that your body requires to fully fuel you. The protein scare, the protein fear, the protein trauma that you have received in your life is a setup. It is a setup that is keeping you stuck. This mindset has to drop off right now that we need a protein combine or we're not going to get enough protein on whole plant foods. All plant foods have protein. Even the lingo at the restaurants are setting you up. Think about it. Would you like a protein with that? It's like, no, I my whole plate's already filled with protein because it's filled with whole plant foods.

Jarrod

Thank you. Yeah. I'm good.

Anita

It's filled with whole, you mean protein with my protein? No, thank you. I'm good. I have over two times more. But what we find in our society is that because people are believing the lie and they're stuck in it, it's keeping them from number one, eating the foods that they actually need. Hmm. Who might be behind that? I wonder. And then number two, it's causing fear that you're not going to get enough no matter how you eat. And number three, it's keeping you from being fully satisfied because it's keeping you away from the foods that are going to have more than enough protein. And four, it's causing kidney problems and other problems because there is a protein overfill. There's a protein superabundance and it causes problems. When we get too much of a good thing, it's not a good thing. You're going to get the right amount of protein and the right kinds of protein. Such a great point. So don't worry about protein. Whole plant foods have more than enough without even adding plant protein powders.

Jarrod

A great example. One cup of lentils has 18 grams of protein plus 16 grams of fiber. Now, if you had that much steak, you would have no fiber. So with just that one food ingredient, you're getting a ton of protein plus fiber, both which your body absolutely must have.

Anita

So for me, my ideal protein intake is 47 grams of protein a day. And you're saying with how many lentils?

Jarrod

With one cup of lentils, you get 18 grams. So you're a third of the way there with just that one portion.

GLP1: Nature’s Satiety Signal

Anita

And maybe I don't want to eat a cup. Maybe I eat a half cup of lentils and later on I have a half cup of black beans. And then I add some rice and then I add lettuce and cucumbers. And yes, those things have protein. They have protein. It's not just the beans. You don't just have to eat beans. Start looking up how much proteins are in these foods. It is going to blow your mind. And it is so easy to get what you need. We don't even count it. We don't even think about counting it. We don't worry about it because God created these foods to have all the things we need. So your enemy has you stuck worrying about nine things. Protein is one of the main ones when we know that there are tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of nutrients in these things that haven't even been identified yet or named. And you're worried about one or two things that which aren't even a real worry or concern. And it's causing you stress and it's causing you more health problems. Just see the vicious cycle here and know that you can escape it. And these foods make you feel full that you get what you need, but then they make you feel full.

Jarrod

It's kind of like worrying about am I going to get enough oxygen when I breathe? If I'm just outside breathing air, I'm not up, you know, two, three miles high in the atmosphere. Am I going to get enough oxygen? Now, is there a circumstance where you may not get enough protein? Sure, if you're not eating enough food. I mean, it's pretty rare. So, same thing. There are circumstances in which I might not get enough oxygen when I'm breathing, if I'm high up on the Himalayan mountains, or if I just stop breathing. Or if you just stop breathing. But I don't plan on doing either one of those.

Anita

Right. So if you if you're not eating enough, enough calories, then yes, you might not get enough protein. But that's with any way you're eating.

Jarrod

Yes, exactly. So it's just could it happen? Conceivably, yes, but realistically, no.

Anita

Let's just be honest, it's sabotaging nonsense. Exactly. I'm just tired of dancing around. It is. It's sabotaging nonsense.

Jarrod

It would be like me wasting a ton of mental energy. Does the air where I live here in Florida have enough oxygen in it? Maybe I need to move to Alabama or Texas. Maybe their air has better oxygen over there. I mean, it's just it wastes a lot of energy, mental energy that we don't really need to. It's distracting us.

Anita

Leave it here. So protein is filling. There's plenty of it in plants. Let's go to the next reason. Let's talk about a hot button topic of the day. GLP1. Oh, there's so much I could say here, but we don't want to take your entire day. We have to just like we got to go straight to the point here. So why do whole plant foods make us feel full and satisfied?

Jarrod

Well, for the reasons we've already mentioned, but with reason number four is it helps to release GLP1 from the gut.

Anita

You're telling me that whole plant foods naturally create GLP1 in the body.

Jarrod

There are cells in our intestines called L cells, just like the letter L, that in the presence of these foods with the fats and proteins and carbohydrates will release the hormone GLP1. Now, why does it matter with it being whole foods?

Anita

Wait a minute. Did you say and carbohydrates?

Jarrod

Yes. Carbohydrates. You did hear me correctly.

Anita

Right. The things that we've been told are the devil. We just don't eat carbs, avoid carbs, don't eat the carbon.

Natural GLP1 vs Synthetic Risks

Jarrod

But you know, we've been told all of it is the devil. I mean, we've gone through low fat, low carbohydrate. Um, well, I don't know if low protein has ever been a thing, but we certainly know it's not a thing now. But yes, all of those will release GLP1 from the gut. But it's the those cells that are at the end of the small intestines, which makes perfect sense because whenever it senses food, it says, hey, Jared, we've got enough here. You can stop eating so much. So we're gonna make you less hungry. Let us digest what we have here, and then whenever we're ready for some more, we'll let you know.

Anita

So you're telling me that whole plant foods are the exact foods that are known based on solid research to release GLP1 naturally within the body.

Jarrod

Yes, correct. And why the ultra-processed foods don't do that is they break down very quickly, they get absorbed, so those materials don't make their way to the end of the small intestines. Now, of course, you've got digested food matter, but with the carbohydrates and the fats and things like that, they get absorbed more quickly and they don't stimulate the release of that hormone. And that's part of what keeps us hungry all the time.

Anita

But what if I'm not eating highly? Processed foods. I'm eating whole foods, but I'm eating just animal products. Or I'm just not eating a lot of whole plant foods.

Jarrod

Well, the main difference is that animal-based foods are digested very quickly in our digestive tract. So our body is able to efficiently break down the cell walls and release the carbohydrates, the fats, the proteins that are within them. And so they absorb higher in our small intestines with plants because the cells are encased in fiber. There are a lot of cells, even if we chew thoroughly, that may not break down immediately. And so they travel through the small intestines, traveling along, they get broken down by the beneficial bacteria in our gut, which is why that is so important.

Anita

So you're saying the animal foods are broken down earlier. The small intestine comes before the large intestine in your digestive tract. By the time the animal foods hit your small intestine, a lot of them are being broken down and already absorbed. They don't travel down even to reach the large intestine.

Jarrod

Right. A lot of the fats, the carbohydrates, even the proteins in them, because they're more available quicker, sooner. But with plant-based foods, because they're encased, a lot of the cells are encased in fiber, then it takes longer for those to digest because it requires the beneficial bacteria in our gut to break down that fiber, then releasing those components, the carbohydrates, the protein, the fats. So now they're present at the end of the small intestines to then signal GLP1 release.

Anita

Yes.

Jarrod

That is a huge difference. Yes, naturally.

The Five Power Foods Recap

Anita

So think about that for a minute. The thing that people are paying high dollar for to have to inject hundreds of dollars a month. To have to inject themselves regularly, which no one wants to have to do, to potentially get the horrible side effects that come with the synthetic GLP1. You're not injecting yourself with natural GLP1. It's synthetically made. Your body doesn't handle synthetic things the same way, which is why we see these injections increasing inflammation and leading to known causes. Please, if you're taking this medication or thinking about it, get out there and start looking up the known problems with it, like gastroparesis that is irreversible. That means your digestive tract does not move food through. It can actually start shutting down and it can become irreversible. Another thing that is a known side effect that we're seeing more and more is people having shingles outbreaks, which is tied to the decreased immunity that these injections cause. So your body's trying to fight this stuff off because it's not natural. It's not natural GLP1 you're putting in your body.

Jarrod

Some of the differences are that when GLP1 is naturally released in the body, it has a 10-minute half-life. All right, Jerry, what does that mean? That means 50% of whatever is released at that moment is gone in 10 minutes. So after about an hour, all that it's released is gone. With the synthetic form, it's not molecularly identical to your GLP1. It's an analog. It's a molecule that has been created to fit in the lock of the GLP1 receptor. Doesn't look like the original key, but it fits in the lock. That has a half-life of seven days. So that means it takes it about five to six weeks for that one injection to be gone.

Anita

So you have something that is not identical to what God created to help you naturally feel satisfied and full when you eat whole plant foods. So you have the synthetic form of that coming in and staying in a week longer than it was ever designed to stay, almost.

Jarrod

Yes.

Anita

And so what is that doing to the body? I don't think we really know all the things, but we do know some of the very common side effects. And when you take something, take a moment to read the known side effects because what we don't want to happen to you is no one tell you these things. They're known, they're common. When you could just be eating more whole plant foods in a way that tastes great, that you love an exciting, enjoyable meal on your plate instead of the extra cost, the injections, and all the side effects. And we don't even know all of what these things are doing when we inject them into our body. We don't. That's the truth of the matter.

Next Steps And Encouragement

Jarrod

All right, to recap the four reasons why whole plant foods satisfy. Reason number one, water. It creates more volume in the stomach, but it also hydrates our bodies. Reason number two, the fiber, the fiber gives bulk and it helps to stretch our stomach, which signals the brain, hey, ding, ding, ding, we're full. We've had enough food. It creates this natural fullness. Reason number three, the protein in there. We have all the protein that we need in plant-based foods. Our body gets enough. It's now satisfied. It's gotten what it needs. And then reason number four, GLP1 activation. Plant-based foods are the best foods on the planet to naturally stimulate the release of GLP1 that tells our brain, hey, listen, you're satisfied, you're full, you're good, you got this.

Anita

And when we say plant-based foods, we mean whole plant foods. This is the five power foods: fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and legumes. And we always throw in as a bonus herbs and spices. These are the things, according to Genesis 129 and the proven research that have been shown to make you feel the fullest, the most satisfied, and according to Daniel, will make you the most robust, attractive, and wise.

Jarrod

And wise.

Anita
